So he wasn’t benched?

I’m for people standing up for their beliefs although I don’t agree with his.
What if he were a devout Muslim who preferred not to wear the jersey, would you be saying the same thing? Somehow I'm thinking probably not. Or reverse the situation. What if a gay player was asked to do something with the team on the ice and he didn't feel comfortable with it, would you or anyone else be questioning and criticising him for choosing to not to participate because it went against his beliefs? Again I kinda doubt it.

Why would he throw himself under the bus like this? Are you telling me your life is pure angelic and everything you do and stand for in Philly is according to your religions strictest standards?

Why invite so much undue scrutiny to yourself your team and your organization?

It’s just a pride jersey for warmups!

Are all the the Flyers sponsors and affiliates in line with your religion or it’s okay because you benefiting from the monetary in flows so it’s ok?

You play for the logo in front of the jersey not the name in the back.
I'm kinda confused. Did Provorov say he was anti-LGBT or something? Also when did things change to a point where not doing or saying something automatically meant that you're against it? Can you not support LGBT community and support them having all the rights that everyone else does and NOT want to wear a jersey and NOT be considered anti-LGBT?

I'm just wondering when did it change where you had support 100% of everything a group pushes otherwise you're not pro-'insert group' enough? For the people who remember it reminds me of this Seinfeld episode:

Good on provorov, more people need to follow suit, he stood up for his beliefs regardless if people agree or not. What happened to freedom of choice? Why does he need to be a sheep?

Hopefully that’s not true.
It is. This is typical of Russian players -doing something forbidden by Putin on camera? Forget about it

We all like to pretend they are not puppets of the communist regime, but hey don't ask them about the war in Ukraine or human rights. You can search the internet and let me know if you can find one Russian player who is human first, Putin's PR second.

Unfortunately, you won't find one, Ovi never answers questions regarding LGBTQ+ , same with War on Ukraine. Not a single straight answer. They are getting a platform that is only used for Russian propaganda only.

ROFL :D

You are joking, right? Man is not a sheep because he is doing what his comrades in Russia commanded.

He could also excessive his freedom of choice and tell us about a "special military exercise" currently ongoing :D

Imagine not being a sheep by doing what communist Russia tells you :D.

Any kind of bigotry or homophobia is not cool in my eyes. Idc if your faith is against it.

Except Provorov didn't express any bigotry or homophobia. That's you projecting and assuming he's being homophobic for simply not wearing a piece of clothing. Are we at a point now where if you're not 100% supporting everything the LGBT pushes 100% of the time, you could be accused of being 'anti-LGBT'?

I remember 30-40 years ago all gays and lesbians wanted was to be treated equally. Now in 2023 they want to be treated more equal than everyone else.

Of course I would say the same thing. What a ridiculous post.

He said he couldnt wear a shirt about LGBTQ+ representation because of his religious beliefs.

Bigotry:
obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or faction, in particular prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

Are you going to try and tell me religion doesnt have a history of extremely negative views on the LGBQT+ community?

who is that lady on your avatar ?
Carrie Coon (playing Nora Durst from The Leftovers).

It’s interesting the hills people will die on… Philly is a tough market and they’re a losing team. He’s just put a target on his back. He’s free to believe what he wants, which I support, but the optics of the situation make it a bad call.

It also hurts his trade value too.
Like every polarizing topic, he will get thrashed from the left, and a faction of the right will think he is a hero.

If it generates enough pushback, this could be really bad for him.

If he supported the LGBT community and supported them having the same rights as everybody else, why would he abandon his team and adamantly refuse to wear a jersey for one warmup that represents exactly that?

He obviously does not support the LGBT+ community.
That's the point. He doesn't.
That's fair, not everyone supports that he is entitled to his own opinion.
He easily could have wore the sweater and pretended he did.

As a person raised Hindu and surrounded by people of various devout faiths such as Muslims, Christianity, Jain or Jews, no they don't have problems wearing it if they have an open mind.
