Not sure what to make of Calgary. They've beaten up on a lot of bad Eastern Conference teams and they just got their first win vs. the West (another bad team in Chicago) for a 1-2-3 record. I'm not buying into this good start yet.

We'll see how they do in their next 7-8 games against decent teams.

Florida has the biggest difference between expected goals and actual goals. Found it in some article. If true, expect them to spiral down the standings soon

Well, they'll tumble from their current 132pt pace....but they still have an elite xGF% and as long as their goaltending holds up should stay up near the top of the standings.

Yup a bottom 5 ES team doesn't get 4-5 PPs a game and they can't produce. And yea they're blaming the reffing.

Thing is they're middle of the pack in terms of PP opportunities (and get more than our Leafs), and pretty much dead even with the number of PKs they've had to kill.

I don't disagree about that line regressing to the mean, but Hintz is rocking an incredibly low 5v5 on-ice SH% at the moment, so he's due for some production

7 points in 5 games for Hintz since this post. Whom should I do next? :sarcasm:

Side note: Jason Robertson up to 56 points in 65 games. Incredible start to his career and looking like a steal in the 2nd round of that draft.

We'll see but I believe they are a tenacious team and while keeping up the current pace may not be realistic, I' thinking they're the real deal. It's Edmonton that will prove to be the fugazi.

First 10gms: 4.50gls/gm, 9-1-0
Last 8gms: 3.00gls/gm, 4-4-0

Noting that 3 goals per game is still very good offense, while 4.5 goals per game is impossibly high offense.

No idea who or what is available but if I am Holland I am looking for a #1 G near/at the TDL. Soup won't be available but imagine the impact he would have for the Oil and for little hit on their cap. Soup would fetch a pretty good haul if Oilers went all in.

I was thinking a goalie like Mrazek would fit in perfectly over there.

Of course, a good goalie won't change the fact that they're one of the worst defensive teams in the league.

KADRI ON A HEATER

Anaheim Ducks winger Troy Terry owned the "one of these thing doesn't belong" spot in the top-5 of NHL scoring until being unseated by another unlikely name up alongside Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid and Alex Ovechkin — Nazem Kadri.

The Colorado Avalanche centre sat fourth with 23 points in just 15 games heading into Wednesday, tied with Calgary winger Johnny Gaudreau (23 points in 20 games).

Kadri has 19 points in his last nine contests, and 12 over his last four, including a one-goal, three-assist performance in Monday's 7-5 victory over Ottawa.

"Right now, his stick is magic," said Colorado head coach Jared Bednar, who's been minus star centre Nathan MacKinnon (lower-body injury) since Nov. 10. "Did I think he was going to go on a heater like this for as long as he has? Probably not.

"But we'll take it."

As crazy as it sounds should James Reimer be at least considered for Team Canada in goal this year as a 3rd goalie? He's leading all Canadian goaltenders in SV% and his career SV% is actually 5th amongst active Canadian goaltenders with at least 200 games. Career numbers:

Price: .917
Kuemper: .916
Talbot: .915
Holtby: .915
Reimer: .914
Fleury: .913

Doesn't hurt that we don't have a lot of great options either. I assume the three would be Price if he's healthy followed by Hart and Blackwood, but he's been really good for the Sharks this year.

From what I've seen of him lately (this year), Blackwood seems like a pretty good goalie.

Where are all the articles and talking heads asking how Colorado will ever afford to pay for him next season?

I present, Team Canada jerseys for the Olympics.... Yes, they are bad.

The Maple Leaf is terrible though... the colour pattern on the left isn't bad, but the Leaf is.

Yeah I'll give you that - those lines are weird.

Just a simple maple leaf would look a lot better.

Ditch the black jersey and use the red/white .. and the red base colour should just be the inverse of the other with a white plain leaf.
