They're good players but yes no doubt its definitely the divison at play. I rmbr last year MANY Oilers fans were drooling at the thought of returning back to Pacific division for this exact reason.

Easily the worst division in the league. The PP is part of the game but boy their 5v5 game is atrocious and the way they're going now is not sustainable.

Calgary has been beating up on the eastern teams and has a poor record vs the west. It is regular season but I give mcd and draisaitl full credit for tearing it up.

Wasn't everyone extended in Montreal after the playoff run? I think they get a little more rope than the Canuck group.

Leafs division is just as bad if not worse. It's the fact that their PP is so deadly with those two on the ice together.

McDavid has 18 PP points while Draisaitl has 16.

The next closest non-Oilers player is Josi with 10.

I mean that is just not true. The Pacific is absolutely a worse division then the Atlantic and it really isn't all that close. Have 2 terrible teams and then the 3 California teams that are varying degrees of over performing to start the season and already seeing the correction to that.

Suppose it depends on how much stock you put into quality vs quantity. Pacific has three quality teams, two crap teams, and three middling teams where at least a couple of those middling California teams could drop into crap territory. I suppose Seattle if their goaltending rights itself could jump into middling category to kind of offset that. Atlantic has four quality teams and three crap teams, with only Detroit (so far for them anyway) occupying the middling category.

For now, the good Atlantic teams have more punching bags to beat up on, but also more chances to face good competition and have more teams to jockey with for positioning. Pacific has more "competitive" teams on average, but that may not last much longer.
 
I didn't realize how serious this Canucks stuff was. Thought it was just on ice problems but I just read that Horvat/leaders on the team are alienated from the rest of the team? Idk if that's true or a made up rumour.

There's a lot of credible people giving credence to that. Sucks if you're a Canucks fan, they had a promising young core but meddling ownership and an incompetent GM have killed them.

Canucks have some nice forwards, we can get one from them while they're imploding

JT Miller at 50% would essentially cost Nick Ritchie in terms of cap but it would take a fortune to get him.
