Yup I like Keefe and he wasn't outcoached this series, but yup Sullivan every time.
I think there is a decent chance he is let go. 4 straight first round exits potentially. It would be silly they fired him though

Ah good call about the first round exits.

Now that I think about it, depends on Pittsburgh's plan for next year. If they decide to give it one more shot with this group, then I think Sullivan stays. Otherwise, maybe they'd want another voice for a possible rebuild. I don't think so, but you never know

I think Keefe was out-coached personally. Yet another series where we got beat hard in the special team battle despite being better than Tampa in the regular season on both. He also took out Liljegren without giving him any sort of chance to bounce back but was perfectly happy to let Boosh and Holl get abused for most of the series.

Keefe is not really in charge of special teams, and a lot of it came down to execution. At 5-on-5, which is what Keefe is in charge of, I felt like he outcoached Cooper. Our PK wasn't actually that bad, considering how much work they had and some 5-on-3's that they had to face. There were also some lucky bounces that went Tampa's way on the PP. But 14% is not good enough on the PP, and our guys did not execute even when looks were generated. That being said, Carolina was able to win with worse.

Some guys were just not sharp and it got even worse where they started forcing things. Even when we had space, there were some really bad misses. These guys know how to win. They just need to do it.

Liljegren should have been in there over Lyubushkin, but Holl was good in that series. Ultimately not a decision that I think cost them the series though.

The series came down to one team being able to marginally execute better than the other. One excellent and deserving team was going to lose. It just so happened to be us. Again.

getting someone coming off the heels of 4 straight 1st round exits to help a team with 6 straight 1st round exits get into the 2nd round hmm

I don't know. There wasn't much offensive upside with that group of D and someone like Lily could've contributed in times where nothing was happening offensively, especially in games 5-7. Seemed like only Rielly jumped up on rushes, or at least he was the only one doing it effectively. Lyubushkin didn't bring anything to the table, so Lily would've been an upgrade on tools alone.

You had the sense Rangers would tie the game
Didn't have that feeling once with the Leafs

Bums got dummied by Nick Paul. f***ing gutless. 1 goal to show for in a do or die game

Same thing happened vs MTL last year too. Only 1 goal to show for

Most gutless team I've ever watched

And that goal happened when the game was already over, so essentially shutout by the Habs.

The Rangers, who haven't been great tonight, have scored more goals in this game than the Leafs have in their last 4 game 7s (BOS 1, CBJ 0, MTL 0, TB 1)

I guess thats fair. 5 on 5 though I felt Keefe outcoached Cooper. Liljegren out is a legit complaint but again I think that's a league wide issue hockey has about experienced and grit players and thats not on Keefe. A lot of media ignores bad plays by grit players if they play physical.
The PP problem is real though.
