Also Suzuki has his big raise starting soon too.

And Caufield could get a big payday too if he builds off the end of this season.

Habs will be a tougher team to play against next year, I don't think they're a bottom 5 team. Closer to the bubble depending on the quality of goaltending they get. But that's the thing. Price has spoiled them with quality goaltending for a decade. Replacing that will be tough and Montreal is a tough spot for goalies.

It basically prevents you from building cap space as the year goes on. So if you have a good young team, you can't really add anybody at the deadline to help out.

It's the same as the year we had Clarkson and Horton in the event Marner held out and then he kind of screwed our cap that year by signing right before camp. Had he signed earlier we wouldn't have added clarksons contract and probably tried to move Hortons.

It is only one instance but serves as a good example of what some have been trying to point out:

Compare the two game winning goals in the Toronto and Edmonton game. Tampa is heading up ice in complete control. Somebody catches up engages, breaks up play and reverses it the other way for the win. Very similar scenario in Edmonton game except the other just lazily watches someone go by and does nothing.
