GDT: Around the League - 2021/22 - Playoffs edition

I suddenly am a fan of Danault :laugh:

Now the Oilers will be without Nurse while facing elimination, possibly for the rest of the series

Barzal was probably tired of his offensive numbers suffocating under Trotz.

It was a tough start to the season but you’d think after the success they’ve had with Trotz, getting them close to the cup, that Barzal would buy into the system.

Doesn’t seem like a good team-first guy

i remember one wished matthews “nostrils” would suffer a career ending injury because i said “go oilers ! do leafs a favour and beat calgary” on their bord one night when it was the north division. It was capped off by wishing us being locked into futility for eternity with lots of F bombs

so oilers can eat shit. I hate them just cause that A-hole. Oh, and I got suspended for chirping back.
 
Yeah pretty ridiculous obvious intent to injure. And the morons on the oilers board are saying he didn't mean to do it "trying to throw a body check but poor body control" LOL. That fanbase deserves everything they get. Oh well they'll have a high priced Nurse long after Draislacker and Mcflyby are gone.

As someone who hates the current DoPS, and have ranted about them many-a-time on these Boards, this is one they are at least consistent on, this season

A playoff game is typically and historically viewed as 2 regular season games, for the sake of suspension, so you can argue this is the equivalent of a two game suspension.

This year, two other players were suspended for head-butting:

Chris Wideman - suspended 1 game - it was purposeful without a doubt, but not very forceful, being restrained in a scrum and nudging his head and shoulders off to the side to hit Erik Haula.

Pavel Buchnevich - suspended 2 games - very purposeful and unnecessary, Buchnevich was squaring up with Lawson Crouse and was not restrained, but for some reason elected to lift his full body upwards, head first, into Crouse's face. Buchnevich was also deemed a repeat offender, which, in theory, would lengthen a suspension

and then Nurse:
1 playoff game - I, personally, think it was purposeful, but he probably had the best argument that he didn't mean to. I'm sure he argued that he meant to throw his body at Danault, intending to make shoulder-chest or chest-chest contact, and that the head-butt was an unfortunate consequence. Again, I think he knew what he was doing, but he had the most plausibility deniability, at least. He also, though, seems to have made the most forceful contact and launched himself at Danault.

Arguing the merit of if this type of play should receive more disciple aside, this is one of the more consistent rulings they've made this year, lol

Yeah probably the same brainiac who said they wouldn't trade drai for Matthews, and also Hyman shoulda' been a lock for Team Canada. lol.

Back to the point of discussion, yea you'd imagine misery loves company and all that jazz two teams with superstars and all but nah....they just want to be on level of their own tbh. the inferiority complex is something unique thats for sure.

To be fair to Barzal, Trotz put guys like Komarov on his wing, even in the playoffs. And to be fair to Trotz, he didn't exactly have many good options at his disposal.

This all comes back to Lou and the roster construction, especially up front.

IF we get bounced in this round, is Keefe (and possibly Dubas) gone, and should we then go after Trotz? This news about him and Barzal makes me leery of how his system would affect M&M and could they, would they, adjust? I mean, if he put Uncle Leo on Barzal's wing, we could end up with Clifford, or Simmons, with Mitch and Matty because, you know...grit and all that.

Very sorry for the Avatar power of suggestion and the need for Pizza. Maybe I'll change it to a bag of weed? lol.

But yes their inferiority complex is real. Although I have to admit if I gaze deep into my navel (hard to do at my age btw), I fear I may be one of those too. I make cracks about McDavid knowing full well he is very very good. Drai seems like a whiny sorehead that gets in a huff alot when things don't go well so easy to pick on. It's not that I don't want them to win anything, I just don't want to see most of their smug arrogant fans enjoy nice things.
