Looks like he is in pain which would probably be ankle. He is turned side so the impact on knee would be mcl. Which doesn’t hurt at time. (I can tell from experience). And is easier to heal.

If it’s ankle it would be a corkscrew type motion? That could be an ankle sprain but that’s generally a fall back/toe pick.
I am the opposite, broken both patellas twice so all my experience is from knee issues and lower back hahah

Honestly reminded me how how I broke my leg/got a high ankle sprain several years ago playing hockey. I was turning to make a play on the puck and a falling player rolled over the outside of my right ankle. Because the skate locks in the ankle, my fibula took the impact and broke and also resulted in a high ankle sprain.

Except I bet they wish they held their assets for lindholm.

If ekblad is out there are going to go hunting. But with what assets?

They don’t have any 1sts. Tippet is 23 and has a career high 6 goal Year.

Wonder what they will do. I wouldn’t mind Boston passing us and getting Florida

True ... This would have made them big players for Lindholm, but they don't have the assets now to make a trade. Or so I think..

Denisenko, Tippett, 2024 1st, 2023 2nd?

Wernt maybe those planned for the expected Giroux deal the next couple of days?

This is all around really bad for Florida......

They can add Braun to the deal. Braun is not Ekblad, but he may stop the bleeding.

This is the thing with Florida and Tampa though.

Tampa already said they are done trading, but they are one injury away up front from using guys who are not good enough to be in any NHL lineup right now, never mind a Stanley Cup contender. They have Foote on defense and they could sign Jack Perbix who is not a bad defenseman either, but it is hardly high end playoff depth. Are they just going to risk going into the playoffs where one key injury could completely kill them?

If Ekblad is out long term, they have Lindblom and Carlsson. Neither are bad options in a pinch, but once again you don't want them in your NHL lineup in the playoffs just like we wouldn't want Dahlstrom and Biega. The thing is, those guys are #7/8 in Florida, whereas Dahlstrom and Biega are #9+ guys here. Florida already has some injuries to Hornqvist, Lomberg, and Lundell, and that is forcing them to use guys like Mamin in their top 6 (not that he has been terrible, but hardly a top 6 guy), but they are also using Thornton on the 4th line (unsurprisingly, he looks done)

oooo that looks bad..i think it the ankle..

Yeah, that looks terrible, like a badly sprained ankle...might be out 6 weeks minimum...but if he tore a ligament, would be even worse...looks like something similar to what happened to Polak's ankle when he was with the Leafs.

I tore my UCL in a similar way in beer league.

Gigantic loss for Florida and if it's serious, you have to wonder if Ekblad just says "enough is enough" and walks away while he can.
I hope that's not the case but the man has some serious Lupul-esque luck.

Anyone know where I can find a way to watch the Minnesota game this afternoon? Why youngest loves Fialla and Karill and wants me to watch with her this afternoon.
Appreciate it!

It still amazes me how Calgary has dealt with zero impactful injuries this year. Only Pitlick, Richardson, and Ritchie have missed games for them. Last by a mile in man games lost.

Sutter is brewing some extra strength magic potion. Maybe he should sell some to Vegas lol

I don’t really think Boston passing us really hurts us.

Stay ahead of Boston and get Tampa, get passed by Boston and get Florida/Carolina?

If it didn’t mean a late season slide to make it happen, I’d take that trade every day of the week.

Heck pitt might pass Carolina.
Atlantic is a blood bath.
It is what it is either way but no point in stressing about where we end up at this point.

I'm petty. We haven't finished ahead of Boston in the standings since the 06-07 season. Last year doesn't count due to the divisional only play. Would like to break that streak this year. Just as falling in the standings wouldn't really hurt us, staying put wouldn't hurt either. Hell we're closer to passing Tampa than Boston is to passing us as of this comment, so Leafs should keep trying for home ice.
