The sky is falling in NY now too.

Is it? Shersterkin was in the midst of one of the best goalie seasons of the last decade, lots were predicting him to fall off a bit. Rangers are still exceeding expectations this year.

Ritchie with another … vs the Habs lol
How many he got now with arizona

Wow

Dude has been the player the Leafs wanted

Like come on... Other day he actually pissed off McCovy with a late hit out of all places in Boston

Also, yeah we are not getting Crouse. He has finally become the player Florida thought they were drafting

The city and expectation I think got to Ritchie's head.

Crouse has played himself off Arizona and also likely our price range. Time to find another Bunting.

I mean you can't say Ritchie didn't have his opportunities here ... Just wasn't impactful in any role really.

Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't .. just the f***ing way it goes.

I mean that's two players now right in 2 years?

Barabanov and now Ritchie ?

Even Boyd is having a great season

Yep, Barabanov never really got the opportunity here .. nor was there really a spot for him. Dubas did him a solid to give him a chance elsewhere so good for him.

Lehtonen was another in a similar situation but he couldn't stick in the NHL.

Boyd was a solid player too!

The Leafs have a lot of solid depth player that keep finding roles elsewhere. I like that if they can't find a regular spot with the Leafs, Dubas works to get them chances elsewhere. That develops a good rep for signing FA's like these which helps the chances of finding more guys like them.

I think he was also frustrated when nothing was going in for him despite getting some decent looks. At one point, he was one of the unluckiest players in terms of expected goals and the eye test checked out. He was missing easy tap-ins, hitting posts, getting robbed...

And then those chances kind of evaporated for him and he was ultimately not effective on the ice.

Former Leaf

I found this part particularly interesting.

Admittedly, my passion for the game really fell off a cliff the moment I was traded out of Toronto. I could never rekindle that spark I had when wearing a Leaf jersey. It was like my hockey path was always destined to allow me to wear my boyhood colours; the blue and white. And wow, am I ever blessed to have gotten that opportunity. Once that was over, it was as though I had accomplished the pinnacle of all my hopes and dreams. Did I dream of hoisting a Stanley Cup? Heck yeah! But as a boy - to even make it to the NHL was a long shot. So what are the odds I got to play for “my” team too? There’s some things in this world which you just can’t explain.

The passion to play for the Leafs, is indeed pretty big for a lot of local guys.
