Short answer is yes.

They are currently just under the cap and accruing cap space, even with a 23 man roster and another 4.37 million on LTIR. So today they could add a player making 5 mill and still run a 23 man roster but they'd have to clear that space as players come of LTIR. I think it's fair to assume they are doing paper transactions to maximize cap accrual with the two waiver exempt players on their 23 man as well, which basically means they will have enough cap space to add anyone they want at the deadline.

So to summarize the longer answer, yes for right now, no once players come of LTIR (Nutivaara may be done for the year though), and yes again at the deadline.
They do, next year looks a bit dicey for them cap wise though. 6.5m in dead cap space with buyouts.

Thanks

Tampa has won a lot of games this year on Vash’s back, that’s the only thing that worries me in a head to head match up with them.

He’s one of those game breaking elite goalies that gives his team a lot of belief and stability, more so than other goalies with high save percentages.

Helps to have massive pads.

The more I watch of Florida (especially on the road) the more pretender vibes I get from this team. Sam Bennett's had a good season but you're probably not winning a cup with him as your 2nd line C. They also need a top 4 D as bad as we do. And there's something about Bobrovsky I don't trust.

With all that said Leafs/Panthers 7 game series would be a coin flip.

Should’ve traded for Bennett instead of Foligno last year.

Also wow who could’ve predicted that the high octane Panthers would torch the leaky Oilers?
