New GM for the Habs, never heard of him
Completely new GM - no AGM experience even, no club work, but he is a player agent, so probably knows contracts/CBA really well and has decent to good working relationships with many players and most GMs
Interesting risk

Gorton will be the true GM, just without the title. Hughes will be there to negotiate contracts, and build relationships, areas that he is very familiar with. Hughes is from Montreal, bilingual, and has a long standing relationship with Gorton. At least it isn't reaching into the old boys club of retreads. Hughes had a pretty good player agent business, this deal must be pretty lucrative for him.

I have a feeling the Hughes will recruit his two big UFA clients to the Habs next season. Both from Quebec.

Letang and Bergeron?
Ngl, that would kind of be neat

Letang will probably look for a middling contract still, but would kind of be neat to see Bergeron take a Spezza type sweetheart deal

Would Hughes need to divest from his agent role though to be an NHL GM?

Seems like Draisatl is a bit of a baby, needs to grow up a bit.
Perhaps Edmonton needs some veteran leadership until these guys grow up.
Where's Marleau these days?

Neither Jim or Draisaitl come off well in that exchange, but I'd put more blame on Leon for it escalating. Yes, Jim is asking a leading question to have Leon throw his teams goaltending under the bus, but all Leon has to say is some usual hockey BS or what he did say, "everything" and "no" and leave it at that. Him adding the "you can do that, you know everything" after Jim asks him to expand is what turns this into a whole thing now and makes him come off as petulant. Jim gets all petulant himself and comes off even more like a dick and we're all talking about it now.

Drai would get ripped so badly here especially
if he was playing in the dark years… he and Steve Simmonds would be fun to watch.

I don't see the issue with the question. He didn't ask "Do you think the goal tending sux" or anything. He could've responded with compete, or effort, just bad luck luck or whatever he wanted. He answered with everything and was asked to expand on that. It's literally the guys job to ask.
