I always find myself rooting against Florida because they're in our division, and they always find a way to win... This team is a real threat, constantly attacking it's scary... I'm really interested to see how we square up against them with both teams playing they're best.

It's finally clicking for them, fun team to watch. They've also got really slick sweaters imo, quietly one of the cleanest in the league. Only red-primary I actually like.

10th straight loss for the Islanders.

How does Lou do it

They've yet to even win at home yet this year. That is a big yikes.

Even bigger yikes, they have arguably the worst prospect pool in the league. They have maybe two or three guys who would crack our top 10 prospects (Raty, Dufour, and Holmstrom), and their best one (Aatu Raty) is probably the only one who would crack our top 5.

Their core is old and overpaid, and the guys who aren't old (Beauvillier, Barzal, Sorokin) could all want out sooner rather than later.

But knowing Lou, he is going to jump ship before having to deal with all of that and leave the mess for the next guy to clean up. Did it in Jersey and Toronto, so how is the Island any different? They are going to need a fairly long rebuild.

You literally just claimed that they "embarrassed us" the last time we played them, and that it was "9-5 or something", when we won 5-3...
Florida's roster has experienced nearly 100% turnover since that game....the game is irrelevent at this point whether it was 9-5 or 5-3.

Florida is clearly an improved team since then, they have added Reinhart and Bennett and Verhaeghe for peanuts and are one of the best teams in the league. they will be a challenge.

Really disappointed in how Verhaeghe and Joshua aren't Leafs.

Why are we concerned about this exactly? He'd be low on our list of options even if he was here, and it is not exactly like he has done well in STL. He is a bottom 6 AHLer who has played 20ish games in the NHL at a subpar level.

We have guys on AHL contracts we could sign and would be as good as he has been.

Funny how they're given credit for being a different team, but we still talk about past playoff losses and even regular season losses from up to 5 years ago here. The game is rather irrelevant, but it was brought up by that individual, so if we're going to talk about it, we shouldn't talk about it wrong and claim that we got embarrassed and beat 9-5 when we actually won 5-3.

Both Toronto and Florida are.

Both Toronto and Florida are.

So comment on how both teams have changed significantly and both improved, why are you commenting on him getting the date of the 9-5 score incorrect? Florida and Toronto played three games in 2020 (all three played in just over one month) with Florida taking two of the three games. One of them Florida won 8-4. im impressed @WillyNy remembered that game, no need to get it perfect, it was nearly two years ago. The score isnt even that incorrect...both teams were given an extra goal, so the goal differential was the same. Is it more embarrassing to lose 9-5 over 8-4?

If he was playing that badly, he wouldn't be playing on the 3rd line for them today.

Spending a lot of time recalling a game and time you said was irrelevant.

I literally did in my very first response, and I reiterated it again in my response to you.

He made a statement that was wrong. He claimed that they embarrassed us the last time we played. They didn't. He claimed that we lost 9-5. We did not. We won 5-3. I merely corrected his statement. The only reason we're still talking about it is because you decided to jump in when the conversation was over, and be outraged at my simple correction of facts.

Even if he meant the 3rd most recent game (which I believe took place when our defense was facing injuries), that was 8-4, and they did not "embarrass us". We actually outshot them 47-29 that game. They embarrassed our goalie, who isn't even our goalie anymore.

If he was playing that badly, he wouldn't be playing on the 3rd line for them today.

He played less than 9 minutes for them... And they only had 11 forwards. That is not 3rd line minutes. It is barely 4th line minutes and he just rotated in with some guys because that is what happens when you don't have a 3rd forward for the 4th line.

And all it suggests is STL has 4 guys ahead of him on the depth chart out of the lineup, and unlike the Leafs, don't have NHL quality talent to fill in when that many guys are out. Most teams are not as deep as the Leafs.

I hate the Bruins.
I pity the Sens.
I am annoyed by the Habs.

But man, I LOATHE the Islanders. Not a single redeeming quality about that organization. Essentially goes back to the 2002 series I think

and yeah, the next 8 games or so are pretty easy for the Islanders, though that started last night and they lost....

I never forget when they booed the Canadian anthem in that series

At this point it doesnt at all given the roster turnover - but if you want to criticize facts - which @Dekes For Days did, then the facts were really not that far off.

That was a funny game in retrospect. A leafs team with no brodie and no muzzin outshot the Panthers 47-29 but got crushed for some reason.

Nobody really took them serious coming into the season, but when you have elite guys like Kap you will be a good team. So pay these guys
Basically just saying people shutup about how much our top guys make, it's not an issue.

You have this strange obsession with correcting other posters minor mistakes in history....and take offense to them - even when recollections are "close enough". Your posts are certainly less than perfect themselves. This is a hobby message board, not peoples jobs.

Once again - Florida and Toronto played 3 games in one month, one of those games the leafs lost 8-4, which is the same differential as 9-5, or 10-6 or 7-3. Yes the leafs outshot the panthers in that game but the Athletic described the leafs effort as "lackluster" and Marner said the team "hung their goalie out to dry"....Again it sounds like the 8-4 game was actually not that close of a game and quite possibly embarrassing.

Edit: In fact Sportnet actually called the game "embarrassing" for the Leafs:

This is quite ironic, because we're only still talking about this because you inserted yourself into a finished conversation, in order to take offense to me... simply correcting something that was incorrect... The only thing I take offense to is you mischaracterizing me and what I do. It wasn't "close enough"; it was pretty much the exact opposite.

Statement made: "They embarrassed us the last time the teams played. Was like 9-5"
What actually happened: Leafs won 5-3.

But oh, of course he was talking about this other game that he said nothing about and has a different score, and not the game he said!

Even in that game, we did not get "embarrassed". We largely outplayed them with a depleted roster, and lost because our goaltending couldn't stop a beachball. You even agree that regardless of which game, it has no relevance anyway, as this was years ago and both teams have gone through many changes. We do very much stack up with them despite the implication of the comment.
