Are the NYR for real? They are the number 1 team in the standings right now when it comes to pts percentage.

So you hate a UFA who was willing to take a hometown discount but not the one the Leafs offered and took a huge overpay by the Oilers that will set up his family for generations but you are OK with 3 RFAs who did not leave a red cent on the table after Shanny begged them to take discounts ?? Not me. I have no problem with Hyman.
"Set up his family." That's a joke, right? Hyman comes from a very wealthy family and is in no danger of ever "going without" regardless of whether he plays another minute of hockey or not. It was pride. He wanted to be seen as a top FA, which meant money AND term. The Leafs (rightly so for them) wouldn't go 8 years, so he bolted to a team that WAY overpaid. I don't blame him for that. It's just business. But don't throw that "I'm just looking after my family" crap out there. That's right up there with guys who turn down 20m a year in the NBA and then cry that "the team didn't respect me" with such a lowball offer. Give me a break...

Yup his family is rich. Never said he bolted saying "I'm just looking after my family". Leafs lowballed him to the extent that he could not turn down Oiler money that I said would set up "his" family for generations. God bless Hyman. I have no ill will against him leaving the Leafs for whatever reason he chose to.

I know people are still upset about the hyman thing but for real though..The oilers are all the Draisalt and McDavid show...like man they picked up Ceci & Barrie from us...and I dont think they are doing that great either from the two or three games I caught. Like its legit those two guys playing out of their minds or they lose and can't win games.

I also never really understood the logic of giving a UFA a big money deal just to play them with a guy like McDavid, who doesn't need any help carrying a line.

The Oilers need guys to give their bottom two lines a boost.

Danault was never signing for under 6. The oilers should’ve awarded a 6M slot to what would a 3C for them. Ok then.

Same caphit as Hyman, one year less, one year younger, elite shutdown C that scores at a 40pt rate with no PP time.

Friedman has already said he doesnt think money is the reason Hyman didnt re-sign, but that it was NMC disagreement.

I believe he said it on some 32 thoughts episode

What a joke, you would think the teams like the Leafs and Rangers would pipe up and wonder why their revenue sharing dollars are going to a shady business owner who doesn't feel the need to pay his vendors or city & state taxes, not to mention the joke of a team they ice every night.

Quebec city would sell out every night but Gary wants more American media coverage, good or bad it seems. I guess the owners are happy enough collecting expansion fees that they keep their mouths when it comes to Gary's pet project.

If I'm a guy like Shane Wright and the Coyotes win the draft lottery I'm pulling a Lindros. I'd rather go to buffalo than a perennial loser team where they'll never pay me when my ELC is up.

Frankly, I hope Glendale locks them out. Bettman's time ruling the league is running out and I'd like that stain to stick to him like glue.

Then why not just put it in Houston already? The Houston Aeros were extremely popular, but their rent was ridiculously high because the Rockets owner wanted to use the arena for concerts. That was the only reason they moved.

If they start getting NHL revenue, that may change their mind. Hockey is pretty popular in Texas, except San Antonio. Although nothing except the Spurs seems to be popular in San Antonio, so I don't think that has anything to do with hockey specifically.

Houston is still in the south, and if they want to keep some hockey in Arizona, then just keep the Roadrunners there.

Someone on the main boards thinks Ovi and draisatl are better defensively than Matthews. LMAO. Haters still think this 2018…

Shoulda signed Danault.

Edmonton vs Los Angeles and Danault is overrated and overpaid too. Gets a lot of usage and doesn't produce anything, cashed out because the Habs double teamed Matthews, didn't call any cross-checking, and left Hyman alone + got lucky with JT being out. We're lucky to have Kampf

I hope we can find a way to get first in the division

Boston looks awful and their defense is soft as hell. Would love a chance to send them home.

Have to agree, watched them live today and they are really not as good as past years.
The perfect line is still scary bc Bergeron pretty much wins all important faceoffs.
Their defence is not as tough as before and I think the Leafs will win even if the refs are playing for Bruins.

You're right, not that the stain would affect his legacy all that much anyway since he's already inducted himself into the hockey hall of Fame, but it would be nice to look back at Phoenix as a bettman failure, (despite the fact that Auston Matthews wouldn't be playing hockey for us right now if not for that city having a team)
