This dude had an insane year in the AHL lol

They had seasons of 101, 100, 94, and 80 points the year before Trotz came on, so yes, quite a bit more.
I suppose it depends how you define promise. That's not exactly a good trend and it came with a likelihood that they were about to lose their best player and overall not a ton to get excited over. We're not nearly there yet but there's certainly promise in the years to come.

All in all I'm on the fence, I don't know if hes the right guy for right now. I thought his track record with young players was really bad, and while that was wrong he definitely is going to be harder on them, like a lot of older coaches. A year or two from now sure, and if you wanted him then you'd have to pull the trigger now but ideally I don't think I'd want that at the moment.

Vegas has to be all over that, right? Seems like DeBoer has run his course and lost the room and they need someone with championship pedigree to get them over the hump and instant credibility to take the shine off of their clown show front office. Edmonton too if Woodcroft can't get them out of the first round.
Would he want to go there? He'd be their third coach in just their sixth season of existence and that's despite their first five featuring a SCF, two WCFs and a first round exit where they were screwed. Who would want that?

Definitely not a good trend, but the Ducks haven’t come anywhere near those numbers, and just lost Getzlaf, Lindholm, Manson, and Rakell. What Verbeek MIGHT do this summer is irrelevant, as constructed now this is a 50 point team.

I would love Trotz if we were close to contending but we aren’t so I’m not sure how worth it he would be. Really curious to see how Barzal does with a more offensive minded coach, to me he’s one of the most talented players in the game and he’s been a 60ish point player since Trotz was hired.

trotz is also the last guy you want coaching zegras and terry. his preds teams were always known for being all defense

look what happened to barzal's production once trotz became HC

Yeah Trotz would not be playing the kids, and if Zegras tried a michigan, he’d get benched then healthy scratched next game. Not willing to sacrifice that much offense to play defense. Need to bring in more defensive minded forwards to help with an already depleted D-group.

Also, have you seen an Islanders game? Don’t have to worry about taking melatonin or AdvilPM to help you sleep, if you watch that style of hockey. Lol.

Oh yeah, Vegas woud actually make a lot of sense for Vegas. Trotz has had Lehner as his goalie before btw.

The more I think about it, the more I think Bruce would be the perfect fit for Zegras. Think Vancouver will mess up not extending him, so the stars might align.

Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel played the final two months of the season with a broken thumb.

My Lord. Reading the refs cost us the game in the playoff threads is staggering.
Even when they win, some teams fans are just insufferable in the whining/excuse game

Of course many think the refs are awful and inconsistent, but WOW

So do all the golden knight haters hate the rangers? Talk about a team that seems to be protected by betmann.

Hope Zegras takes a jump similar to Hughes next season.

Damn that kid can't catch a break man. He would look good next to Zegras.

So, in 2017 draft, Dallas got Heiskanen, Oetinger, and Robertson.

We have only Comtois, looks like nobody else will play in the NHL. To be fair, all abovementioned Dallas players were picked before Comtois, who was our highest pick. But still, that draft could of gone better for us.

PS
Wasn't that meant to be a weak draft? There are plenty of NHL regulars in first couple of rounds and a bit of them in lower rounds as well.

2017 had the worst #1 overall and #2 overall since I can remember.

Hirschier had nearly identical stats this season to Zegras but Zegras is 2 years younger. So based on how Zegras projects to be he'll be better than both the 1st and 2nd overall in 2017.
When Zegras is Hirschiers age he'll possibly have a 82 point season.

That said, 2017 4th overall Makar is possibly a generational Dman already.

Hischier is quite good well-rounded player I think. Hischier had one of the best +/- on his team while Zegras had the worst outside Jamie, so there is a big difference, it's not only about points. Offense-wise, sure Zegras is more skilled with his average hands :sarcasm:

But yeah, Heiskanen and EP were pretty good picks as well that draft :)
