That's such a weird series for me, I want them both to lose so f***ing badly. As much as I hate the Kings I think the Oilers losing is the funnier outcome so I'm going for that.

Wow I just got a notification saying Barry Trotz was fired. Three playoff seasons and then 37-35-10 this year. Obviously there's always more to these things but on the surface it seems like a bit of a harsh move.

Trotz is not the reason the Islanders sucked. They were old, had a horrible schedule due to the arena, and didn’t get any help with Covid because they were one of the first teams before the league starting rescheduling games and pausing for Christmas.

I wouldn’t mind firing Eakins even though we gave him the extra year, to pick up Trotz.

Well, he has had solid years with a bad Preds roster, then he won the Cup in Washington and then made Isles serious contenders for 2 years in a row. I'm sure his phone is/will be buzzing with job offers.

meanwhile, not sure if any coach can make the Isles suddenly at the same level they were even last year. Will see.

The timing really sucks, having just committed to Eakins for another year, I can't imagine Verbeek going back on that. Maybe if they'd known Trotz was available before doing so, it would be a different story.

Can't imagine him wanting to come to a rebuilding team either. This screams Vegas or Florida to me.

Trotz would certainly get a lot more out this Ducks depleted D-group. But regardless of who is coaching needs to be filled with at least a #3/4 Physical D.

He is a defensive minded coach and scoring really has not really been the priority issue with Anaheim, it’s more about bleeding goals, especially playing with a lead.

With the roster and lack of star power and depth the scoring was not really too bad.

Vegas has to be all over that, right? Seems like DeBoer has run his course and lost the room and they need someone with championship pedigree to get them over the hump and instant credibility to take the shine off of their clown show front office. Edmonton too if Woodcroft can't get them out of the first round.
