Couldn't have happened to a nicer team.

Now to watch them flail about with their cap situation without even having a Cup to show for it.

Oh, the schadenfreude. It tastes...so sweet.
No first round pick to use for anything, either.

Eichel not having a good season, 1 point in his last 6 games.

To be fair to Eichel he himself said it would take longer than this season to get back to where he was as a player. Vegas just assumed they would get 2019-20 Eichel, he won't be back to that level until early next year I'm guessing.

They also said on Spittin Chiclets that Eichel has been playing with an injury since he returned to the lineup (not neck related).

Yes about 3 games in he blocked a shot. Left the game with a wrist injury, which Deboer said does not look good going forward. He didn't miss any time, but he didn't take any faceoffs for the next month and it's still heavily taped.

That sucks for Eichel, that means they are only getting great Eichel for 4 seasons til he leaves town to a better team if he doesn't request a trade before then.

Montreal went from Stanley cup finals to worst team in the NHL pretty quickly.

The Kings have awfully low standards for jersey retirements if 23 goes up to the rafters lol.

i'm sure kings fans are rejoicing over that. he's been pretty awful for a while now. but given his longevity and the fact that he was their captain for 2 cups, i can see his # getting retired even though it shouldn't

Wasn't he the Captain on their first two cups though?

Yeah but I think jersey retirements should be for close to HOFers. I don't care how long he was captain for, at his very best he was a good complimentary piece, never an elite talent. Switch him out for Chris Kunitz and the Kings still win two cups.

Fair point, I think Captaining a team to the first cup in franchise history may be worthy of a jersey retirement.

There’s already 3 other players on that side that are getting their numbers retired. And Kopitar may not have worn the C but he was as good as the captain for that franchise.

Usually the C is the best player on the team, or at least at one point was the best player on the team. Brown was never that. So I can see the argument for not retiring his number. Personally he would seem out of place when you look at the other numbers in the rafters.

Kings may as well retire Justin Williams number while they’re at it. He had more impact on them winning twice than Brown and he at least won a Smythe.

It’s good to see that Kings fans on the main boards haven’t gotten any less stupid though. They are going to defend that diving loser until the day they die.

McDavid is going to join only Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky as the only players to win 4 scoring titles aged 25 or younger. That guy is going to deserve his jersey to be retired one day….

I think Brown is very deserving of having his number retired by the Kings. As much as I hate that team he meant as much to them as Getzlaf to us. He was nowhere near the player Getz was but the impact he had on that franchise is huge and captaining them to two cups means a lot.
