"Buffalo receives forwards Patrik Berglund, Vladimir Sobotka and Tage Thompson, a first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, and a second-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft."

If that's the cost for Laine, it still seems like too much. He's been in Columbus for how many months? 2? 3?

i was more sore pointing to him as a guy who sounded like he needed a break from hockey, who then regained his form.

Rags, LOL!

Quinn was a good coach, he had that team firing on all cylinders when the panademic hit last year. They were good this year, esp given the loss of Panarin early on. Young players make mistakes, that happens. They have to learn, grow.

I think Dolan is making a mistake, looking for a different kind of identity when one was being built on talent. Getting Messier (rumor) mistake. Being a great player doesn't translate into being a great coach. He has no coaching experience. You want to coach? Start in college or AHL, get your feet wet, gain experience. MOve up to Asst' coach.
I thought the Rangers were progressing normally, drafting well, signing FA's. got a top young goalie, a top d.

Now if they name Gallent, for example, that would work. But I don't think they'll do that.

Nah, I understand. It may very well happen to Laine too. I was just thinking about how there's someone arguing how the Kings "have to give to get" Laine.

Don't be surprised if Patrick Roy is in the mix to be the next HC there.

He and Chris Drury have a history together dating back to the late 90's in Colorado.

Mark Messier is rumored to be a potential coach for the Rangers? Wow, I'm sure that will just work out great!

If I were an owner I'd try my best to be hands off, but the one thing I'd tell my GM is no former iconic players in high ranking positions.

The NHL makes the NFL look like a meritocracy, and that is really saying something.

That is one of the best PT articles I've seen in awhile, used to love the site when it was more stuff like this and less political.

Maybe things go differently for TT if the Kings team is better, some guys just look really bad on bad teams and I think that might be the case with TT. I think it was the right time to move on and go in a different direction, but no ill-will towards Toffoli, he scored some big goals for the Kings, especially in that 2014 WCF. His comments on Caufield are pretty telling, the "it" factor is a good way to describe it.

I hope Montreal can make a run this year, very likable group. Although that series is going to shut down these boards.

Great f***ing article right there.

Tampa and their GM have taken the mantle away from Loophole Lou as the team that can skirt around the cap and field a team with a 97 mil payroll, all while hiding in plain sight with their LTIR bs.
They wouldn't have been able to do it if it was a normal season. It was a perfect storm. Normally that surgery would have only had him out most of a season.

Figured they would have closed that loophole after the Hawks went deadline shopping knowing they were getting Kane back for the playoffs but newp

The league really needs to look at way(s) to mitigate this. Pretty bogus stuff.
