They wouldn't have been able to do it if it was a normal season. It was a perfect storm. Normally that surgery would have only had him out most of a season.
I think what helped TB convince Kucherov to delay his surgery and take the regular season off was the COVID protocol. They probably told him to delay his surgery, take the regular season off, get his full salary, keep the roster together for one more run, and he doesn't have to deal with the COVID protocol for 56 games. I don't think the length of the season mattered, he would've taken the whole season to "recover" even if it was 60 or 70 games.

Now that the Kings have been put out of their misery it's time to watch some playoff hockey. It's the best time of year, especially the first round is so much fun with many games going on and teams not yet settling in. Some really good match-ups this season. The West division looks to be awesome all the way through. Florida-Tampa should be good. The North division will probably be a spectacle, as anything is with Canada and hockey... I hope McDavid continues to dominate. East looks solid... I'm excited.

So where is everybody at for the playoffs? We're all in on Pittsburgh a little bit, whether it's Carter or the Draft Pick. I think the majority are anti-VGK as well.

I still have a soft spot for Carolina, Winnipeg & Florida.

Yes - Islanders, Bruins, Capitals, Hurricanes, Jets, Golden Knights

No - Oilers, Predators, Panthers, Lightning

Ho - Avalanche, Blues, Wild, Leafs, Habs, Penguins

Really only care about the Pens for Carter and the Canes just because they're a likeable team. Much easier to find teams to root against

In a perfect world, the Penguins win the cup this year, our Penguins 2022 pick turns into a second rounder, Crosby, Malkin, and Letang, retire in the offseason, and that second round pick is in the 33-36 range.

Love Carts but F*** the Pens. Hate that team. Colorado is the wagon I'm jumping on. Great young players all around.

It's a perfect fit for him there. Dude lit up juniors but the worry was always his size. Chicago has always had a great system for smaller skilled guys.

There is always a worry about something when it comes to adding skilled players high in the draft with this team. It is one of the reason the franchise has been an offensive black hole for 2 decades. It's either to small, not gritty enough, character issues or whatever cliche people come up with. If I had a nickel for every Kings prospect the last 20 years who we were told "has a developing offensive game" or "untapped offensive potential" ...

Chicago might have a good system, but it also helps to actually draft skilled wingers early on in drafts, rather than adding more and more centers. The Kings have drafted 8 centers in the 1st round (11, 17, 5, 30, 11, 18, 5, 2) since the lockout and 1 wing (30)

And we wonder why the goals-for numbers are what they are.

So the NHL is really making Vancouver play its remaining meaningless games at the same time the playoffs are running?

I kind of get making them play EDM today since it could effect home ice if EDM were to win the the North bracket, but 3 meaningless games vs. Calgary, why?

Those games are going to have the compete level of a pre-season game.

Off the top of my head advertising obligations, draft seeding, players playing for contracts next season...
