I don't anything about artificial disk replacement in neck surgery and what that means to him playing NHL elite level hockey for the next 5+ years. Maybe it's an easy surgery that makes him more likely to heal up quick and play for a long time. But it sounds bad....and scary from a team that potentially would trade lots of prime assets for the guy. Not sure the risk is worth the reward on Eichel. Count me as a stay the course and eventually trade from a position of strength (center depth) to fill our needs (not Eichel).

Taylor Hall proving Boston made the right decision. What a finish in OT.

From the sounds of it, Hall more or less used his NTC to force a trade to Boston. Couple reporters mentioned that Buffalo had better offers but their hands were tied. Although it seems like Lou might've chosen Palmieri (and Zajac) over Hall, so that might have been a mistake given they needed to fill in the void from Anders Lee's injury and Hall would have been a more natural fit.

Basically everyone outside of Cozens has had enough, heh.

They'd be smart to basically build around Cozens and Dahlin at this point.

Can't blame Risto and Reinhart due to their tenures there. Risto is one year away from UFA and Reinhart appeared to sign a one-year deal last off-season that still leaves him as an RFA but it is telling that he didn't try to cash in long term. Looks like he signed a short-term, two year bridge deal after his ELC and then just a one year deal this year so he's been weary this entire time.

Can't blame those guys when one guy has only one year left and is letting the team know that he won't be back as a UFA and the other is a current RFA. Can't say I totally blame Eichel either but, at the same time, he went ahead and signed the big, long-term deal anyways.

I'm kind of digging the idea of taking a run at Reinhart. I think he would be tied with Kopitar for the team lead in goals from the 2018 season to present. Acquiring him shouldn't be as costly as Eichel so it doesn't fall in to the "too soon" trade bucket.

I wouldn't mind Risto if he wasn't going into his walk year.

I wonder what his value would be? It's known he's not really happy, pending UFA. If it's not too high I'd definitely consider it. It's not like he couldn't be extended.

The only problem with it is the crunch it creates on the right side, would hate to trade Walker to make room only to have to have Risto walk. Now if he were willing to sign a new deal as part of the trade, that'd be different. Still leaves a hole on the left side though.

Laine is a case of too much too soon for what appears to be an immature young adult. He was an instant star and bought into his own hype. His work ethic faded and now his love for the game. I would not want to trade for him but I hope he finds the right situation and thrives. He’s really talented and reminds me of Hull who can score from anywhere.

Don't know about you guys but, I am looking forward to watching FLA/TB go at it in the 1st round. That could be on heck of a series.

Minnesota is going to be a thorn in the side of whomever they face in round 1 - COL or Vegas. Would not shock me if they took their series the limit. They will need top end goaltending and Dumba needs to be better. Not a great year from him.

Islanders/Pens has some intrigue as well.

Some tasty matchups overall.

Peter North Division playoffs start next week...

For the love of the sweet baby Jesus, can the league just cancel the meaningless 3-game set between the Canucks and Flames. Vancouver has been through enough. I dislike that franchise but even I have a bit of a heart to have some sympathy for them.
