It has nothing to do with lack of leadership or effort etc. It's a simple matter of critical mass. Were the 2012 Kings suffering from a lack of leadership/stale room when they were about to miss the playoffs altogether? Nope, they were just short of the tipping point and Carter took them over. The current Kings have several holes to fill before 1 player will make a difference.

If the Sabres were in our division, the whole team would have 20 more goals, with or without Carter.

I know what you're saying yes Buffalo is a sh*tshow, and I'm not trying to argue anything. But with the crop of players we have in and out of the lineup this year....it would be hard to believe anyone would reach 20. Okay I'll give you Kopi, Brown and maybe Kempe, but Lizotte, Wagner, Lemieux, AA, Moore, Andersson, Vilardi, Iafallo, JAD, Grundstrom, and Luff . And definitely not any of the Dman. I say we might even have a losing record against Buffalo if we played them 8 times. LOL.

Good players, but not leaders, in a stale room/organization.

Do you think Robitaille, Blake, and McLellan demand the best of these guys playing in LA?

I think they do actually, just in a different way we are used to seeing under DL. The Blake/Luc/Todd management has been a departure philosophically from DL in terms of accountability and style of hockey being played.

DL ran a pretty tight ship and demanded accountability as a professional. Not just NHLers but everyone in the system. Everyone on here knows the story of Quick being lazy and sleeping in/being late for practice in the ECHL. Ranford had to fly out there to get him into shape and form good habits. Ditto Kopitar etc.

The flip side, and I don’t blame DL but there were incidents that were piling up after the two cup wins. Drugs and domestic violence weren’t a good look for the org. I think those incidents had an impact on Luc/Blake in making it a more player friendly in the organization. I’m a little concerned how that kind of culture affects player development.

Does Quick become Quick or Kopitar become a great two way center under current management?

I dont think culture for the young guys is a problem. They are all young and hungry and in a super competitive environment in Ontario. Akil Thomas came out and said the team comradery is the best hes ever been a involved with and thats on a team thats coming last in its division. You just dont hear those kind of things ever coming out of loosing teams

It’s weird because instead of tweeting like a weirdo Dolan could have just brought it to the BOG directly.

everything you read on how he operates is odd. From how he handles the Knicks to his band.

There was a story on the radio this morning how he paid to have his band headline a festival with the Eagles. This pushed the Tragically Hip out of the lime light. Was a funny story.

Yeah I've heard he's a pretty big weirdo.

Do we cheer for the pens this playoff? I am conflicted on that.

Sens have been playing so good lately. They're a year behind the kings on their rebuild IMO and they are playing like last years kings to end the season

Brady Tkachuk mentioned that they are playing super loose lately, and with that comes some creativity with no high level pressure or expectations.

It's similar to how some of the bottom feeder teams play after off-loading a few UFA's after the trade deadline.

They've had 20 total first and second round picks since 2015. Kings have had only 13. Ottawa lost the 4OA in 2019 but they got 3 and 5OA in 20 to make up for it. Tkachuk is a 4OA so they've had three Top 5 picks over this span v. the Kings two. Pretty sure the Kings had to reel off a seven game win streak and beat them in the final game last season to pass them in the standings.

Kings have more points this season but they'll probably finish real close again. Might be splitting hairs but I guess I'm wondering why you think they are a year behind? I feel like Ottawa pulled the ripcord at the 2018 TDL while the Kings geared up with Kovy heading in to the 2019 season, not pulling the ripcord until January of 2019.

I guess the only reason would be because 11 & 8 are already here? I feel like they started rebuilding earlier.

They have a nice line in Batherson - Norris - Tkachuk. Those who recall the Karlsson trade with San Jose, Norris was part of the haul for the Sens.

They have a good amount of goalie prospects in the pipeline. If one or two turn out as they hope, they are set.

It's a fun team to watch.

They might be the winner of this year's prestigious "Look out for Arizona next season" award based on winning games once the games don't matter anymore. Last year's recipient was our Los Angeles Kings.

I don't know maybe I'm reading it wrong but am I the only one who thinks they're ahead in the rebuild. They have a worst record but they're young players are coming through this year. We get rid of Kopi and Doughty and this team is Buffalo-esqe.
