I guess if it's not in the rule book it's not a foul. That's got to be a major and a match penalty to do that to someone. I'm sure he'll get only a 5k fine, if that.

honestly that turned out more dangerous than most suspendable hits we see.. pretty crazy. guess the league can look at anything they want so it theoretically could be suspendable but yeah.. what the hell do you even call it?

Ahhhh I F****n hate ESPN. They were terrible when they had the NHL. Bring back OLN. LOL.
Not really, I loved the intro music and Thorne/Clement with their analysis and calls. NHL2Nite was great. Hope they bring those things back.

NBC deserves some credit for putting some the games on national tv. NHL came a long ways from the OLN/Versus days and a lot of that is due to NBC.

But my issue is that they lack anyone interesting to promote the game, the other sports leagues have multiple personalities that bring interesting takes. It’s so boring on nbc, it’s just not interesting at all with monotone takes. Look at NFL on Fox and Inside the nba etc.

I haven't really watched basketball for many years, but I will time to time tune into Inside the NBA with Shaq, Charles, Ernie and Kenny Smith. The reason being is they are all likeable, funny, and just entertaining. I know its TV so I'm sure its scripted, but it doesn't feel scripted.

Now compare that to the NBC pre, intermission and postgame shows and although I love hockey, they are extremely dry. I can't imagine someone tuning in by accident and actually staying on the channel. Keith Jones, Patrick Sharp, Dominic Moore, etc are all interchangeable in my eyes. Anson Carter and Boucher are probably the only guys that have a pulse and something more than just boiler plate things to say. I've said it before in another thread about how much I enjoy Army on the Kings broadcast. If they had more Army types the national broadcast would be more successful, imo.

Freidman's 31 thoughts has elvis m linked to Edmonton but maybe not till the summer. If I am the oilers i do not wait.

Koskinen + 2022 first for Elvis

Cap hits for Koskinen and elvis are nearly identical ($500K more of Koskinen), and their contracts run the same length. I put the 2022 first because Edmonton does not have a 2nd or 3rd this year.
First for a goalie is a steep price but it is also to unload Koskinen's contract which is terrible.

Do you guys think this is fair? Should i take it to the main boards?

One should never take anything to the main boards

It's just another weapon to add for the streaming wars, that will intensify even more than they already have in the coming years. I read that the WWE is moving their network/streaming service to Peacock, so those are 2 pretty big additions for ESPN and Peacock.

I already have the Disney/ESPN bundle , so this is good news, will save $100 a year on NHL.TV

I wonder how much longer cable has left, probably longer than I think since its such an institution for so many, especially older people.

I have to assume some other network is getting a piece, maybe FOX? NBC? What are they going to do? put the WCFs on Disney channel? They have to be on cable somehow.
I hate that Fox can't carry an entire playoff run any more. Been that way for awhile but I still think it sucks.

I still have DISH and prefer it to all the streaming services. The whole allure of it was supposed to be saving money but you have to sign up for a zillion services if you want to see everything so we are going to wind up not saving money while having to exit various apps to get to the next one. Oh cool...it is making me sign in again for some reason haha.

Will be interesting to see what happens when DTV doesn't have Sunday Ticket anymore.

You mean Fox Sports Net?

I think even in the past they only carried the first two rounds. I think I can remember Bob and Jim saying something like "regardless of the result this will be our last broadcast" when the Kings played Colorado early in the century.

Speaking of that game, still to me the most gut wrenching Kings loss ever. Really thought they were going to win that series when they forced Game 7.

The thing that I hate most about the streaming services vs. cable or satellite is the delay. I have to turn my phone to silent when I watch college football because I've had the results spoiled for me. I have to wait for commercial breaks to vent about Harbaugh in my group texts. Happens here to if following a game thread. I have NHL.TV on the app and I am a good 30-45 seconds behind you guys commenting on the game. To put it in hockey terms, I feel like MacD and you guys are McD.

Pretty sure they could have taken the lead in Game 7 at the end of the 2nd but Smolinski blew a golden opportunity. Then I think that asshole Blake stepped up in the 3rd period for Colorado.

Yup. Smolinski had a wide open 4x6 and somehow missed.

A truly crazy what-if. That would have been something had the Kings eliminated the Avs after trading them Blake at the deadline. It also would have denied Bourque the SC. Who knows though, that Colorado team was filthy and had they been down 2-1 they would have thrown the entire kitchen sink at the Kings in the 3rd.

I actually called a National Sports radio show which I had not done in the past or have never done since, to call my shot that I thought the Kings were going to win that series.
