Simmonds traded to Buffalo for a ham sandwich (a 5th with conditions to go to a 4th that has no chance of being met), and the Devils had to retain 50% to get that 5th. Crazy how far he's fallen

He hit that power forward wall a few years ago. Not sure what the Sabres see here or maybe the other offers were worse. He was never a good skater and questionable on the boards, average defensively. He rode the Giroux gravy train and PP spot in front of the goalie. That only takes you so far,

It could backfire, but Parise has 5 years left and if he retires prior to that , that salary recapture is on the WIld. ANd part of the 'ifs' involved, and why the trade is not finalized, is how much $$ the WIld will retain on Parise's salary , and what other pieces are involved.
