He was actually an invitee to Kings development camp many years ago, but he was signed as an undrafted free agent a few years ago.

Was it Blake or Lombardi who didn't sign him? We could have turned that freebie into a first rounder if they had vision. That GM sucks.

It’s called blind luck that he amounted to anything. It’s literally a throw at a dart board so it’s hard to blame anyone for not making a move several years ago.
A low first rounder seems like an overpay for him when you look at what he is.

Pretty sure it was Lombardi who didn't sign him. Plenty of reasons it didn't happen, though (I'm sure you're being sarcastic, but others will take you seriously).

Ducks fans wanted him to be active and I guess he was. Next time they should specify.
It was a 1st in 2012 which was shaping up to be a dud draft. Not to say that he should be giving away top picks, but it wasn't like there was a murderer's row of talent available. Back in 2002 I was extra annoyed when the Devils gave up their first rounder in the Arnott/Nieuwendyk+Langenbrunner swap. But later they more or less said that the scouting department wasn't high on the expected talent that was going to be available.

San Jose gave up their own 3rd rounder with Goodrow. So it'll be like 67th-70th overall plus Goodrow for a late first round pick. Still more than I would have given up for Goodrow, but "first rounder" always sounds more sexy than 26th overall.
Edit: Scratch that, apparently it's Philly's 3rd not SJ's 3rd.

surprised we didn't see more of this. Is the Skjei deal to Carolina still a thing? Maybe a 3rd team is involved there for cap reason. Although retaining on Skjei who has 4 more years on his deal is a completely different ask of a 3rd party then Lehner.

Good for the Bluejackets to get a much needed W last night in OT. Bad injury Karma, losing so many players to injury (9 players at one point) , 2 more last night , including Elvis who got bowled over in the net, and even during their 7 game skid, they were in most games. If not for injuries, they'd be in 1st place. Hope last night's inspiring effort is a difference maker. I 'd love to see them in a playoff run, esp vs the Pens, who there is bad blood with.
