He's a defensive stopper with TO and yep, he's still very, very good at it.
His deployment: 4 offensive zone faceoffs, 32 neutral, 118 dzone, for a ozone percentage of 4% lol. Yet his GF% is the best on the team at 62.50%. His suppression numbers are ok given role (amongst the most dzone starts in the league despite 5 fewer games and not even half of the TOI of the guys ahead of him) but hard to generate a ton of SOG when buried like that (see: Marc-Eduoard Vlasic). Literally worst starts in the league.
An offensive team has put him in the perfect role for his skillset. He's an excellent defensive player with great ice vision. A cheap guy to munch the hard minutes so the more offensive Cs can go to work. Yet as usual, he's getting a raw deal here by people who seem to deliberately misunderstand roles in hockey so they can have a weird hate-on for Nick ****ing Shore of all players.
