As far as Van is concern I think they can make adjustments and beat VGK, but man the Knights did to Vancouver last night what I thought the Blues would do to them.
I am sure if Mike Milbury would have said, "Yeah and no worries of distraction by their significant other." it probably would have been okay, but man this is another silly one. I don't enjoy listening to Milbury during games honestly, but its something for everyone to get angered about. People have to get angry about something nowadays and post it on social media, even though we've heard it for years road trips how it brings the guys together and there are no distractions.

What the NBA player said should have got him fined and suspended. If the races were reversed, there would have been a riot and lifetime ban.
Just as we say that, cases in South Korea have spiked in the past few days. As good a job as they've been doing, it's just extremely difficult to keep this in control. The overwhelming success of the bubble just goes to show how easy it is to contain this pandemic with universal, rapid testing and everyone following basic safety procedures.
Like, imagine if we could rapidly test every single person in an outbreak zone and quickly quarantine the positives. That's basically what they did in SK from the beginning, which is why they've been able to continue operating while idiots in America continue to complain about masks.
If you missed the Jackson stuff, you have your eyes willfully closed. I literally posted a link. There was plenty of noise.
Also, let's not pretend the former doesn't happen: Riley Cooper vows apology to black teammates after slur
And let's be sure to distinguish between public reprimand and actual organizational discipline, as well as between leagues. Drew Brees getting yelled at by a bunch of people is different from an actual suspension or firing.
I'm not here to defend the NFL or NBA though, they have their own major sets of issues. Invoking different leagues doesn't do anything. NHL has been consistent on their line.
This is a lot more rebuffing than I expected about Mike f***ing Milbury, though. Wow.
I agree that Milbury sucks and he should not be on the air as an in-game color analyst.
And this is why I never bet on sports. Guaranteed loss!!I’m predicting:
- COL in 6
- VAN in 6 (upset special)
- TB in 6
- NYI in 5
The only choice left is Boston.
Never have, and never will, like Colorado. Vancouver and Vegas, obviously are not cheered for. I don't want TB to win. If the Islanders win it invalidates my opinion on them, so I don't want to be wrong. I guess if there had to be another option, it wouldn't be horrible if Dallas won. The only problem is Pavelski, and to a lesser extent Perry(because he already tainted the Cup once). I don't want Philly to win either, but, they could be a distant 3rd.
In regards to Cooper, a lot has change since then. It is funny it is the same team and that they still have WR depth issues that make them not just cut ties with a player.
It's not about "missing the Jackson stuff" but rather not missing an ounce of it and stating that the response from his fellow black players and the league was pathetic. Is it really a "movement" or is it just about caring about what only directly impacts you and your family--because you are black--or a white person that needs to "look good" on social media to avoid being criticized? Case in point is what seemed like the entire league--both white and black--crushing Drew Brees for his comments about kneeling but Jackson can put this over-the-top shit out there and there was barely a peep. Bring it back to Desean's comments and you have self-appointed George Floyd family rep Stephen Jackson supporting Desean's comments! What the f***, right?!?!
I'm not "on the Right" and am registered Independent. I'm not one of these "reverse racism" guys which my comments about Luka could be interpreted as. If I see hypocrisy, however, then I'm going to call it out. I just think there is so much patronizing and corporate bullshit with all of it.
That ties in to Milbury. I don't think the people running the NHL on NBC care about what he said and we'll see that when he is back in his studio analyst spot next season. He also isn't actually sorry but, to be fair, he doesn't think he said anything wrong so he shouldn't be sorry. So this is the patronizing stuff but online SJW's are celebrating the fact that Milbury stepped away with stuff like "we did it!" when they didn't really do a damn thing.
I agree that Milbury sucks and he should not be on the air as an in-game color analyst. I don't care about the studio stuff because I don't really watch it but, dude, he is not good on the live broadcast. While it is a good thing he is no longer doing color, I don't like the argument that it doesn't matter why he is gone but rather it's just great that he is gone.
Nuance has died in the era of wokeness and cancel culture: you have to pick sides. This is really unfortunate since it leads to ineffective arguing and a hardening of one's pre-existing beliefs. If you argue against how this particular incident went down against Milbury, then you must like Mike Milbury and hate women. That's silly. When you say you didn't expect this much rebuffing about Mike Milbury, realize it isn't really about Mike Milbury.
This is fine. People in a society shouldn't expect someone to apologize for their feelings though, and in the case of Brees I thought the criticism of him was over the top.I guess the point I'm making on all of the above is that I'm not going to tell people how they can feel--if more people were more mad about Drew Brees' comments than they were about DeSean Jackson's, who am I to judge? Like I said in another post, I don't know if the NBC people go home and put on white hoods, I'm not privy to their inside character, etc. What I do know is that someone publicly being a douche is subject to consequences especially by employer. If you think it's a dog and pony show, that's fine, it's a media company, it's literally ALL for show, so if you have an idiot shooting his mouth off in a way that it makes an entire protected class uncomfortable, you know what's going to happen. I don't see how it's patronizing to sit a guy for conduct unbecoming.
When I say i didn't expect much rebuffing about Mike Milbury, what I mean is everyone knows Mike Milbury, he's not a soft-spoken gentleman with no history of being a dick, and it's small potatoes, he's just sitting out, it's not jailtime. So people rushing to his defense is a little surprising is all. Don't make this more than it is. Mountain out of a molehill.
This is fine. People in a society shouldn't expect someone to apologize for their feelings though, and in the case of Brees I thought the criticism of him was over the top.
I didn't say they were not free to shoot off their mouths with criticism. IMO the criticism was hyperbolic. If you're free to shoot your mouth off publicly, you're free to endure other people shooting off criticism. Freedom of speech isn't freedom of consequence. Is the criticism of Brees over the top? That's your opinion, just like others who are voicing their displeasure have their opinion. You're absolutely free to be a dickwad in public and others can say whatever they want about it stopping short of threats to safety. But from an employer standpoint--when you do stuff like that, especially for a worldwide public media company with an audience of millions, if your employer doesn't approve, too bad.
And again, this isn't Drew Brees model citizen we're talking about, this is Mike Milbury. With Drew Brees, you saw even teammates saying "I Love you man, but...". With Milbury, it's "god damnit not again, you idiot."
If we're talking about benefiting employers, Brees was actually speaking for the millions and millions who stopped watching and attending NFL games, sending their record ratings and attendance into the shitter. The problem is his employer/league thinks they have to pander and punish rather than stand up for the millions who were turned off. The better marketing move was to defend Brees' right to voice his opinion. Just like if they left Milbury alone for speaking truth, none of us would be discussing this.If you're free to shoot your mouth off publicly, you're free to endure other people shooting off criticism. I already said I had no problem with NBC firing Milbury.Your issue is with the masses then, not the NHL.
