JD did speak to the importance of a top center in an interview and no doubt that is on their list. But that is not the same as 'trading' the number 1 because the NY media is bored and who didn't see those 'rumors' put in print. And it's been 45 years since they have had the top pick. JD knows they need a center and is looking for one. But having Lafrenière, who will be an immediate impact player, and Panarin on wing for them isn't likely to change. He's going to be a stud. Given the CAP frozen , having an elite scoring forward for 3 years is a good thing. They can get a center via other avenues. Unless somebody blows their doors off with an offer, I don't see that at all. how many teams have an extra number 1 center to offer as part of a deal?

Those rumors weren't a surprise because the Rangers needing a center isn't a surprise. The Oilers can't extend RNH, that would be a place to start. He's only 27 and needs a new start. He's a top center and with skill on wing on a new team, he'd shine. They also have a pretty good farm system and could move one of their top prospects for another teams top center prospect, depending on the pool of the other team. So that gives them RNH for 5 years, while the 18 yr old they get via draft (this yr or next) or trade has time

They would be crazy to trade the #1. I just don't see it.
This, 100% There are so many avenues to get that 2C we need, and we have a ton of assets to do so. He also mentioned how having the number 1 pick opens a lot of options through the organization, so I do believe it's quite possible that there will be moves to bring in that 2C sooner rather than later. Plus, he pretty much slipped up saying Laff is excited is coming to NY and was just gushing over the kid. Really, the only way we don't stand pat and take Laf is if someone made a trade offer that would be too stupid to turn down.

Also, most of these "rumors" about listening to offers for the pick are just clickbait articles. Obviously, we would listen to offers, ANY team would. You'd be stupid not to hear out if some team is willing to make a godfather offer for the move that you just can't turn down.

Canes pot 2 and take 2-1 lead, and are really playing well. Good to have Williams back, I think they missed him in game 1, that line was on the ice for 2 goals. And he's such a leader. Svechnikov...in a league of his own..

The hurricanes need to cut it with their whole underdog attitude. That team is stacked. Goaltending is not great but their two guys are capable of playing above their heads at times. Hope they beat the bruins

Svechnikov in addition to being an offensive beast, had 18 hits coming into tonights game. He's the whole package.
And once they get a legit starting goalie this offseason, they will be scary good. And a pretty good farm system.

Let's wait to hear both sides of the story.

That's unfortunate. I've heard he has a ridiculous salary as well. Let's see if he survives this scandal.

Seriously, probably one of the best gigs you can get. However, unless there is some serious evidence against her stories fast, I think it is curtains for Bailey, at least for the performer in the suit. No way the Kings are going to goof around with this unless she is documented of lying or trying to make false claims before. Even if they are embellished, they will cut him and run.

I've been watching the Stars v Flames game and the only thing I can think of is just how relieved I am that Derek Forbort is no longer on the team...

Canes got jobbed on this 'call'. Krug skates backwards and trips, Teuvo Teravainen got called for interference on this play. Bruins got a PP to tie game with 3 seconds left.

Horrible call

How about Vilardi and other assets (a 1st next year maybe)?

Edit: Whoa! Just saw NHL rumors in another closed thread...

"Rumor" is being incredibly generous, more like lies. Folks should subscribe to The Athletic as they've got excellent hockey coverage league-wide and for the Kings. For those who don't it was essentially a story written around an interview with Brian Burke that the Rangers should at least listen to trade offers. About how nobody has the guts to pull off a big trade at the top of the draft anymore because of his draft day trades that netted the Sedins and Pronger. Based off that premise, it was a discussion of who could potentially have the ammunition to trade for the number one overall pick. Naturally since Lisa Dillman covers the Kings it was their prospect pool which was brought up though Ottawa was mentioned as well.
