He does if he wants to keep him.
I was thinking about your post a bit more, and I wonder if Toronto would consider letting Marner go for the picks, and then offer sheet Timo Meier in San Jose. If the Sharks match on Meier, then offer sheet LaBanc. I realize both those players are downgrades from Marner, but it would help the Leafs with their depth, because then they hang onto Kapanen and Johnsson. They would still need to dump Marleau in a trade, and the sweetener they would have to add to that deal might be too much, but maybe Arizona takes him if the Leafs include a good prospect in the deal?

If the Leafs let Marner go there will be rioting in Toronto. Their fans expect them to acquire and keep everybody. Marner is probably the best player on that team.

Looks like the Cap is going to be around $81.5 million for the upcoming season.

I bet Kyle Dubas sphincter just tightened up a bit more. Very interested to see how things shake out in Toronto.

Speaking of which, Dreger said Kapanen, Kadri, Brown are in play.

and LeBrun:

I'd hold onto Pesce if I were the Canes...

Well, degenerative back disease is just a bad back. That's really what it boils down to.

The timing is interesting, that’s for sure. He was playing in the playoffs just 2 months ago.

Are the doctors who review/provide diagnosis 3rd party or are they team doctors?

Also, according to TSN, Corey Perry has 8 teams who have contacted him. Looks like he’ll be employed soon enough.

I just think it's BS for people to question guys being diagnosed by multiple team doctors. And if this were so common why do we only have a couple of cases when there are so many players on awful contracts.

Alot of people looked really stupid saying the Hossa thing was fake, I assume the same will be true here.

That’s an interesting thought. It certainly would open up plenty of options not using all the cap space on one player and having the 4 first round picks as ammo.

They could use them in deal(s) to acquire other assets to help their club.

Hey guys dont worry we just have a couple holes to fill, like

#2 Center
#3 Center
#1-4 Wings
#2 D
#3 D

So as soon as we fill those holes we'll be right back into contention mmkay?

Can ask I what point you are trying to make? That the Kings are atrocious and fans shouldn't be optimistic in any way? Do you want everyone on here to just trash the team with you and be relentlessly negative? Your comment just seems so petty and pointless.

Kings need to move Kovalchuk. No point in keeping him around for two more years if we doing a re-tool.

Kings should move Quick but they won’t this year, which is bad for Campbell and Peterson.

I don’t mind seeing what Carter can do after now after a full year recovery.

First of all, this was in direct response to another poster characterizing the Kings current situation as, "we just need to fill a few holes," which is the understatement of the century.

Second of all, yes, everyone has the right to be positive. Hell, I'm fairly positive about some of the young pieces we've compiled. I think the prospect pool is in a much better position than it was circa 2016. So that's fantastic, and bodes well for 22/23 and beyond.

I don't feel like I'm relentlessly negative, only blunt and honest with where I think this team is currently situated - a blackhole has-been at best. That doesn't make me particularly excited for 19/20, no.

Some people are content with parading around 2012-2014 as if it actually means anything in 2019. Soon enough, we'll be just like Rangers fans parading around '94 in 2014. It's pitiful and silly and meaningless. You don't win today's ballgame on yesterday's homerun.

Now you're getting it.

Never thrash the kids that are busting their ass trying to carve a career out in the NHL, if they are working hard.

I don't think there's a taker on Kovalchuk. Maybe next summer if he's still producing, but not with two years left.

Maybe Marner is the best player on the team. Does that make him the most valuable player to the team's success though?

For sure the first thing I thought of was Hossa.

Sure, it's probably legitimate. Both guys are competitors, late in their careers, and have been fighting through things. Who knows, maybe that's why he struggled last year and kept getting healthy scratched, especially since he was on LTIR with it before. Maybe his body just finally gave. The difference is Hossa had a very good last season, and Callahan has been struggling for a few years; TB and Callahan have been trying to find a fit for him as recently as 30 days ago, and TB needs the salary room, so a very sudden, convenient diagnosis is fair to question, even if it ends up blowing up in my face. I'm know I'm just saying what I know some are at least thinking, even if it's not PC.

There really is no point to that post. The sooner you don’t let it bother you, the better. Some prefer to expect the worst. Some like you hope the best. Most have a wait and see. Proclamations of being Kings fans just make it harder to accept this kind of negativity for sure.

Yep, very good read.

But again, the skeptic in me will always say so, this has been going on since 2013, he had no problem toughing it out when making 8 million a year, then 4 million, then when the 1 million was all that was left, he hung em up.

Of course both have legitimate medical concerns, and I want these guys to have lives after hockey, but the situations are also too convenient to just nod and smile at.
