Yep, it’s a great deal for him no doubt. For the Flyers, not so much.

I didn’t like that Handzus deal back then so at the very least I am consistent in not liking this one either. :D

DL loved giving out contracts to guys coming off injuries. Handzus, McCauhlly, and a few others.

The Flyers have lost their ****ing minds. $7 million per year for Kevin Hayes?!

Yes, that would be FLetcher, prize pupil in the Paul Holmgren school of Managing. Cut his teeth early in his career with Bob Clarke, who Homer was an assistant to. Every decision he's made has been awful but this is horrific. Rewarding a 3rd line center with a LTC for 50M because your new coach wants him on the team. And that means, a true talent in the making, Nolan Patrick, on the last year of his ELC, doesn't have a future here.
Now they have 22 M left on the CAP with 9 contracts to sign, including Provy, Sanheim and Konecky. And he's not done making moves yet.

I feel like hanging out a black crepe and listening to a funeral march.

From the day Homer brought Fletcher on board, I knew this would happen. He, like AV, doesn't like young players, and now thanks to yesterday's defensive debacle, 2 of Ghost, Haag and Morin will be gone.

ANd he's still talking about getting a top winger...okay...

They weren't a playoff team before and not one now, despite his panic moves.

I have to think @deeshamrock is going nutty over this deal

That is some serious cake for Hayes. Jeebus.

I used my favorite cuss word in many new and creative ways. And was echoed by the friends I have that are Flyer fans....

If the defense can gel in front of Carter Hart, that's a sneaky darkhorse team

I have to disagree. FIrst of all, no guarantee Hart's the starter, given Fletchers recent comments that (gave props to Hart for playing well and said he expects a competitive camp )but then said it's a tough league for 20, 21 year olds and some additional seasoning wouldn't hurt. This is right after he mentioned wanting to sign a goalie or 2.

AV's system , all about getting the puck out and offensive push, weighs heavily on having a top goalie, i.e. Luongo in his prime and Lunqvist in his, in the net because the other team gets a hefty % of zone time, SOG's and Scoring ops. Not the way I want Hart to cut his teeth, so maybe he'd be better on the Phatoms. Or maybe Fletcher intends on Hart as the backup this year. We'll have to see...

And with Braun on board, and too many d, at least 1 of if not 2, Ghost , Haag and Morin might go.

I hope I'm wrong, but they are in the most competitive division and I can't see them climbing to the 3 spot and making the playoffs. 4 isn't a given, considering the Panthers will be better under Q.

I liked disliking Perry. I liked disliking Kelser too.

Hopefully they ditch the Freeway Faceoff stuff next year. This year, it was all baked into the cake. Next year, everyone knows both teams will suck, and the teams won't care that they play each other.

It's been a wild week. It sure feels like the status quo of the league for years now is finally being upended completely. St. Louis cup champs, Kings and Ducks basement dwellers, Karlsson in SJ, Corey Perry bought out...If someone told me all of this and more would happen just 3 years ago I'd laugh in their face.

I don't care if you sign him to a league minimum deal. I don't want Perry. He isn't a difference maker or worth the hassle. To sign with the Kings he'd want a NMC so he can stay in SoCal, so he isn't worth assets. He'll just take up a roster spot and delay some of the youth getting icetime.

^This x1000. Personally, I think he's probably cooked anyway; but, for argument's sake, let's pretend he's not: his presence might add, at most, what, 5-6 points to the standings? Mainly, though, I'd be worried about the fact that he potentially could be a bad locker-room presence - something this team definitely does NOT need at this juncture.

Don't often get to say this: high-risk/low-reward...
