Hayes might get $7m a year for 6 years. 20g, 29a, 49pts on average for his career. 45% on faceoffs for his career too.

Friendly Sharks fan here...

I'd trade it all for 1 cup, let alone 2.

Being a Sharks fan is tough on our hearts. Its all fun in the regular season (which, by many accounts is still fun hockey to watch), but the playoffs drain us. Hard.

DW has done a great job. No complaints. Not every team can win it all. Its hard enough to attract players to California and DW does a fantastic job selling it.

And lastly....

Some of you may remember, but before your cup many of us were super friendly posters on here. Dance off threads, friendly Nor/So Cal bickering, and no cups. Once ya'll won, things changed. My honest perspective was the humility that brought us together was shattered after you won it all. You guys had the upper hand and everyone knew it and some slammed it in our faces. Oddly enough, many of us actually get along with more Ducks fans (yuck) now...

Here's hoping we can get our own cup so we can go back to where we were. I enjoyed the friendly rivalry of the past...

FWIW, a lot of my annoyances with some Sharks fans are, like someone mentioned above, when they act like Brown tried to ruin Hertl's career.

And I've seen a few over the years where they just troll on general boards, and frankly throw shade their way to shut them up.

But to me, whether it's Ducks or Sharks, I like having hockey fans in California and I like being able to have an honest and respectable conversation with any of them.

If you ever want to have said conversation or good fun, feel free to find me on this or the main boards. I rarely post on team's boards, unless it's to wish them good luck in a playoff matchup, etc. So you won't find me on your boards until we're good enough to make the playoffs.

Thunderously awful contract for Hayes.

I guess they felt they had to balance out the reasonable Eberle contract, or something. Yikes.

That's a good contract for Hayes IMO. He's a quality center. Those aren't easy to come by. 7M really isn't that much anymore.

The contract DL signed Handzus to was 6.6M in today's money, and he was coming off major knee surgery.

Can't blame players for contracts, but then we also blame players for not producing, and actively hurting the team, because of the contracts handed out by management. If management doesn't pay up, fans usually call them cheap. Granted, nobody really wants to see Kevin Hayes play, but he's part of the overall group that gets paid 50% of revenue. Fans get nothing out of this deal, unless the team wins. If they don't get the players, it's tougher to win. Teams also must use a certain amount of cap space. Not that the Flyers wouldn't give Hayes $7m with no cap. They would, and wouldn't even think twice.

It's really a vicious cycle. Players get money, owners have money, fans give money. Someone is getting the raw end of that deal.

Yep, it’s a great deal for him no doubt. For the Flyers, not so much.

I didn’t like that Handzus deal back then so at the very least I am consistent in not liking this one either. :D

Can’t find it but it was after their cup run.

Ad in the paper talking about how satisfied he was to beat LA as part of it. Just thought it was strange after coming up short in the finals.

God yeah, I wasn't even aware of that, but exhibit A to exactly what I've been talking about

smug sense of undeserved superiority, hang that 2nd place "at least we beat the Kings" banner

Flyers now have Couturier/Hayes/Patrick down the middle with Giroux, Voracek, JVR, and Konecny on the wings. They have a really solid forward group.

I would agree with just about all of this.

A little of the seeds may have been laid with Thornton's little slide across the Kings logo in 2011, I thought it was in bad taste to do in a series that SJ was heavy, heavy favorites. But anything left of the good relationship ceased to exist after the Kings won the cup. Kings fans became a little arrogant and Sharks fans became a little miserable.
