I think NYI would demand we retain salary for a prospect who show legitimate upside still.

I’d be willing to take Steve Bernier and Brian Gionta for Kovy, and send those guys to the AHL till the end of the season.

I could see LA retaining up to 20% (1.25M). If they do I would look at it as LA buying an asset

I guess Tobias Rieder didn’t move on to greener pastures. No goals this season.

I was actually kind of a fan when he was in Arizona, thought he was a modern day NHL 4th liner, but now he just looks like another Kings bottom six guy who is either out of the league or barely hanging on.

Looking back, it really is remarkable that the Kings were a playoff team last year with how awful the roster was. Kopitar and Doughty just willed it.

You forgot me, Herby.
Per your list, I will say that Brian Boyle has ended up carving out a pretty decent career. More importantly, the dude ***** slapped cancer, he's the man. :thumbu: :yo:

Didn't put Tukonen in that list because he wasn't really drafted because of his size, obviously he's never going to be mistaken for Johnny Gaudreau walking down the street, but he had some skill, it just didn't work out.

Boyle has carved out a pretty nice career as a bottom six player, Steckel had some decent seasons as a 4th liner in Washington. But if your drafting someone in the 1st round and size is a big factor, you should ask yourself "Would I be making this pick if the guy were 6'2 " and in the case of most of these guys the answer would have been no.

Like Chicago with Kane this year.

Since Christmas, the Hawks have 25 points in 19 games, and Kane is scoring at a 177 point clip.

Kopitar and Doughty played out of their minds last season. Just shows how far away the Kings are from contending.

There is no way based on past performance those two were going to duplicate their performances last season year after year.

ARVIDSSON: 18 goals in last 21 games....insane

Back in the day, I posted on the Devils board about Arvidsson as a potential late round pick for 2014. I did enjoy one response: Prospect Info: - The 2014 Draft Thread!

Ummm no.
Not just no , HELL no !!
There is a reason why he has gone undrafted not once , but three times?
So 30 nhl teams have passed up a total of what over 3 years ....nearly 600 picks /times since he was draft eligible ?
And you think it is wise to use a pick on him when we are desperate for a scoring forward prospect?
I'm sorry but with all due respect I think this is exactly what the devils should not do

Granted I was thinking more 5th-7th round, but it's a good reminder that there can be overlooked overagers.

Thought the Stars really had something in him after his rookie year.

And Tarasenko with 11G in his last 12 Zibanajed with 13G in his last 11. I have these 3 dudes on my fantasy team in my most expensive league. It's been fun to check boxscores the last few weeks.

Don't even get me started, I traded Tarasenko before he went off.....

I like the Canes and am enjoying their season. I have to say, Niederreiter has been a great add for them. 8 goals and 11 pts in the last 12 games. And he has found a great fit with Ah0, they really are good together. He has made a seamless transition and is flying out there.

The Oilers have 6 wins in their last 24 games. Nothing like wasting prime years of a generational talent
