Read a Lebrun article that Dean Lombardi has turned down the Ottawa gig. Seemed like he could have been offered the Vancouver gig last year.

Edmonton job is open and not sure DL will be interested. Sounds like he’s content with his role in Philadelphia and they’ll work on renewing his contract even though Hextall isn’t there anymore.

Dean is biding his time for when BLuc is demoted to running Ontario again to run out there contracts and he gets his old job back as Pres., with Hexy back, but as GM. We trade Futa to Edmonton for Draisaitl.

Bednars an idiot for challenging the Tkachuk goal. There is barely any time left in the period. We have to look at MT’s buttface during this delay.

The Womens World Hockey Championship gold medal game is on NHL Network, in OT. USA and Finland Tied 1-1. Finland scores and the teams goes nuts, throwing helmets, gloves , sticks, celebrating, fans are screaming. USA challenges the goal and after quite a long review, the goal is overturned. Goalie interference.

I felt bad for the Fins...they had to regroup and try to focus after they thought they were world champs.
USA outshooting them 47-22, Finnish goalie outstanding.
Game is now back on with 2 minutes left.

Have never seen a world championship goal overturned.

Going to a shootout to decide gold.

USA wins, the fans, understandably, not happy, booing.

I feel bad for the Fins, they were on top of the world and now are shell shocked. It took the 19 yrs to get to the gold medal game, they thought they won the game and it was taken away from them.

Finland filed a protest , wants the gold medal returned.

The Bolts getting swept shows that talent and a flat out dominating regular season alone won't even get you past the 1st round in todays NHL if you don't have the character guys like Justin Williams leading the offense or a Willie Mitchell on the back end.

Meh. While I'm glad our ladies got the 5-peat, I'm not as happy as I usually would be because us and Canada literally just playing monkey in the middle with those gold medals year after year is awful for the women's game worldwide.

Pick the worst contract... ::hint choose either one and you're a winner!::

Players with any hint of talent have the upper hand in their contract negotiations. GMs are just too desperate for what is rare talent that can produce in the NHL. If the Oilers could've signed Lucic for 1 year, they would've. Smarter to walk away, but if you're hoping for 2 or 3 good years, you generally have to pay for 5 or 6, and live with the consequences. This is why there have been lockouts. This is why free agency was as restricted as it was for many decades prior to the mid 90's. This is why there's a cap, because without it, you can pretty much bank on Lucic's deal being worse than Holik's with the Rangers. Of course, an even worse contract for Lucic wouldn't have been in Edmonton, but Toronto, or NY, etc.

Any contract that ties an organization in knots and prevents the GM from having the flexibility to make the team a contender in the future, is a bad contract.

Stevie Y going home...but gets to inherit another carte blanche situation with a ton of assets to build with. How convenient. Can't wait for all the undue praise round 2.

I recommend they replace Kate Smith with Enrico Pallazzo.

I went and found one of the offensive songs and can definitely see why people would take offense. I think we are going a bit hyperbolic now on erasing the past though.

There are many people who most would be considered to be great American leaders who were against things in the past that many would now consider to be cultural norms. Should we erase history and their role in it, because they couldn't look into the future 10, 25, 100 years and see how society would change? Ridiculous.

I am not for re-writing history, or ignoring the contributions people made to it, because they had a slightly, or even radically, different moral compass than we have today. We study history to understand the mistakes of the past and the virtue and flaws of the people who lived at the time. We should never try to erase it, or maybe people prefer our times to be forgotten as well, because surely future generations will find some flaw in us.

Kate Smith performed a great rendition of a patriotic song every American should be able to get behind. Leave it at that.

Wonder if HF will start souring on Hedman now the way they've soured on other guys, especially given it's a Leafs' d-man getting snubbed.

The Norris trophy has become a joke!
It’s all about offense and if you can guard your shadow you’re nominated

It's always been that way. Rob Blake won a Norris over the greatest d-man most of us have ever seen (unless your old enough to remember Orr) as a minus player, because he had 23 goals.
