JR: "The Flyers are only just 8 points out and they need to play better to make the playoffs."
Hart hasn't made it through the 1st period in 2 straight games, giving up 6 goals on 15 shots.

We laugh and say they should pick up Quick, but there’s nothing stopping Peterson from the same fate.

It's nice to know that two former Kings are making Pen's fans miserable.

Pittsburgh only has .67M in cap space next year with a 16 man roster.

They're talking about giving up a 1st for a team to take Pearson and JJ off their hands. As crazy as it sounds, I'd probably do it.

Not the year not have a top 5 pick when you have to rebuild. The Avs are going to get a really good player with the Sens pick, plus their own in the draft. It would be a miracle if the Sens found a way to get a 1st for Duchene on Monday.

The phrase, 'It could be worse...?' applies to us. What if we were like Ottawa and needing to rebuild/re-tool immediately and had to give up our 1st that is looking to be a 1st/2nd overall. Ooooooooooh man that would nearly destroy all 25 Kings fans here on HF.

Hell yeah Blake should do that, but I bet Phoenix gets there ahead of the Kings.

That is what is wrong with the statement. Flyers were eliminated by Thanksgiving.

Hart had a couple of rough periods. Should have never started vs the BOlts, it was his third game in 4 days, he played back to back vs Wings. Elliotte should have started vs the Bolts and last night. Hart is a very talented, elite level goalie but he's only 20 and should be in the AHL. Not hard enough breaking into the NHL and then having reporters deem you the 'savior of the season' Too much weight . And the team in front of him, terrible in the last 4 games.
Except for Phillipe Myers , who has been their best player and paired well with Ghost. Been waiting for his debut, terrific young d with size, skill and high IQ.

Rutherford doesn't like to stand around idle and does want to improve his team, but not looking to trade the 1st rounder for a rental, would prefer to keep it, unlessit was for a top young player. The Pens are not a contender this year, he's not that blind. I can't see him trading the 1st unless for a top player who would be a part of their future.

It will be very difficult for me to trade our first pick, certainly in a rental situation. Now, if it’s for another good young player, like guys we’ve acquired, then I guess that’s a different story. But my preference is to keep that pick. We’ll see where it falls. I’d only be guessing at this point.”

If you are out of playoff spot at US Thanksgiving, it's very likely you will not get into the playoffs.

I saw something awhile back where they showed standings last season and the year before and out of the 16 qualifiers, 14-15 of them held a playoff spot at US Thanksgiving. It's a tough hill to climb even if you are a few points back, especially with all the 3 point games now days.

Isn't this the problem for Rutherford though, the players he has acquired haven't performed. He is up against the wall when it comes to cap space, so he is going to be forced to do something.

He made a significant mistake giving Jack Johnson a 5-year deal. He also has 32-year old Hornqvist under contract for another 4 years after this season.

I think the sun is setting on the Pens run. There are a couple of better, younger teams in their division.

Right now, 3 teams from each conference in playoff spots at Thanksgiving are either outside or on the edge. Crazy season.

I think it's pretty clear that was done as a favor to Crosby.

Pretty clear Panarin isn't going anywhere.

Hmm, so Columbus is going to go for it this season, then lose Panarin and Bobrovsky? Right now they are sitting at #9 in the Eastern Conference.

I don't see much hope for them having a long run in the playoffs. They would be wise to forget Duchene, and trade Panarin and Bobrovsky.

As much fun as it is sitting in 30th place, im really glad not to be a blue jacket fan. there is no way they are winning the cup this year and if they don't trade Panarin and/or Bobrovsky they are really hurting their future. To top it off, if they try to salvage this trade and re-sign Duchene, they lose another first, further hurting their future. Duchene is not worth that IMO, not really even close.

Not surprised he got dealt there. I mentioned it a little earlier in this thread it could be a shot out of left field.

Might as well go for it and use Panarin and Bob as your own "rentals". Interested to see if they can retain Duchene this summer.

Jackets @ Sens tonight.

Shocked that HF boards are not down right now.

The Jackets are the 2015 Kings without the championships.

No thank you.
