Good to know that Quick is consistent

something about him and literally the first 11 shots lol

it's almost a guarantee at this point

roman josi could be a good upgrade for lak. 3m player, contract with nashville until 19/20. i think he's a bit undervalued and he could fit well. now, lombardi is a gm for usa team, i hope he's watching.

If anything, Josi is overrated by the hockey world, he's hardly unnoticed.

Roman Josi will be a 7m dollar player soon. He is a legit number 1/2 Defender.

Muzzin's contract is an absolute steal.

personally i don't have a crash on him. just trying to find some value in europe team, but maybe it's not there really.

He's incredibly dynamic and not horrible defensively, and a great value contract. No way Nash ever lets him go is all I'm saying. But there are people who were pimping him for the Norris.

sure, nash will not let him go easily, plus he is an icon there. i was thinking in terms where lombardi's radar is scanning and what for, and josi could be close to a prototype what he wants. but just a guess really. and btw, europe can win this one, that would be a shock!

very promising! now i'm pumped can't wait to get this season started woohoo!

true, it's great to watch some hockey again, it's been a while! great players, fun tourney. do check finland kids, laine and barkov and aho, that's fun, the future of speed and skill. and team europe is playing against all odds.

Dean Lombardi and his antiquated views of the game has me worried. The roster and coach that he selected for this tournament is simply baffling.

NOt to him. Grit over finish was their model and it won't work in today's game. Too much speed and skill. t Tyler Johnson for one, should have been on this team. Okposo, Justin Faulk, I'd take over Dubinsky and Jack Johnson. I'd take Yandle over Johnson. Kessell wasn't considered, (and hand surgery would have displaced him) but he wasn't on their list.

Most of the other teams built on skill, 3 scoring lines. USA has 2, a checking line and a traditional NHL 4th line. If that top line doesn't produce, they are in trouble. NOt enough skill deep.
Look at Canada's 4th ine, which has Thorton and Duschene on it...that's better than US's 3 rd line.

Dean Lombardi cited (and patterned ) this team after the 1996 team, which was in different time, the game has changed, the USA mindset for building the team should have as well.

this tourney is not a litmus test for lombardi's skills or know-how. it's just an all-star tourney, for him a neutral ground for testing some stuff and theses (in which he did fail, so far). but overall it's got nothing to do with la kings. it's just his personal experiment with free tokens and hopefully he'll learn something from it.

Dean Lombardi is not a split personality, this team is what he considered (and has said so) what he feels it takes to win. NHL , WC or Olympics , his mindset doesn't change. This is not an experiment for him, it is what he felt was the best. But his model doesn't work in tournaments like this. And it won't work next year or going forward. Hockey tends to be cyclical. and its trending in the speed and skill direction. And that is not his mindset, he'll stick with his model, and go down with ship.
