Just read that blurb at the bottom of yesterday's prospect camp article on LAKI that the Kings were actually going to head over to talk to and gauge the progress of both Dergachyov and Prokhorkin.

Probably? I would guess yes, since there's no other reason Voynov would be in the KHL right now.

Only 26 Russians played more than 40 games in the NHL last year. That's less than 1 per team on average, and 3 of them played for the Caps.

Yes it could but we all must admit there are parts of this world where what Voynov did is accepted. And others where a blind eye is turned to it. I think Russia falls in the second category. But it can become a concern.
 
Rosen actually indicated that our staff will be headed to Russia in the next upcoming week or two to talk to Prokhorkin about coming over . They are still interested in him as they should be . Supposedly the conversations are "amicable".

Think they always have been. Problem comes in that I think he wants to come straight to the NHL and not play in the AHL. And I'm not sure the team is wanting to make any promises to that regard.

And as usual, can't really blame a guy who is playing in the top pro league in his homeland...why take a paycut to play in a foreign league just "for the love of the game" narrative that people always push?

The only thing I don't like is the false starts of him coming over but don't have the whole story there so.

Everyone reads Muzzin's advanced stats and assumes more than they know. Rangers fans are still pumping him as the better defenseman. Most people pushing that, though, have an agenda.

Remember, McNabb is a better safety blanket than Methot, because look how good his numbers are away from Drew. Ignore context and 3rd pairing soft minutes!. ...wait.

Sometimes you gotta bite your tongue and give it a shot . Prokhorkin is one of the best players in the KHL at 22 years old. Look at how Panarin did in the NHL last year. We need talent on the cheap as well on our team. This team is deprived of talent after Carter, Kopi, Pearson , Gaborik and Toffoli.

If he doesnt perform well in the NHL then he can go back to the KHL . You dont lose anything. Like this however you do lose because he is not coming over without guarantee.

There are players out there with hands and skill but they are not over 6'-2" and 220 lbs.
So the Kings pass on them. You can be 5-10 and play in this league. Guys like Perron or Hudler could have been had for pretty cheap. Also I liked Versteeg when he was healthy. We need a 3rd line that can at least score a few goals. There is way to much pressure on Kopi, Carter, and Toffoli to score.
 
If Prokhorkin wanted to play in the NHL for the Kings, and the Kings wanted him, he would already be over playing AHL/NHL hockey.

At this point, I would bet money Prokhorkin is simply using the Kings as a constant threat (leverage) over his KHL team.

Prokhorkin always gets his raise, and his contract demands from the KHL league. He signed a three year contract, by the time that ends, it's likely that he will no longer be Kings property.

The guy has it made in Russia, seriously move on folks.

You guys,

EVERYONE wants skilled players. It's not like the Kings go out of their way to draft unskilled guys.

The truth is, it's hard to draft skilled players outside of the top 15 picks, and early second round.

You are now seeing the effects of multiple Picks being traded to win Stanley Cups.

The Kings netted TWO Cups, that's two more than a lot of teams.
 
watched first period of young guns game between Calgary and Winterpeg. Lemieux ran his mouth all through warm ups and first shift then Tkachuk rushes him throwing an elbow to the face dropping him and cross checking him in the back of the helmet talking trash. old school... wonder where they learned that from.

also kyle connor looks really freaking good. lucic is looking worse and worse.

My vote for this year's Bark Madness goes to Gustl Kopitar.

Nailed it. I like everyone else wish he could be over here in NA, but it's been 4 years since he was drafted. If he honestly wanted to play in the NHL, he'd already be over here. There's a reason he was a 4th round pick.
 
anyone excited about prokhorkin should just move those thoughts over to rooting for pearson to pick it up and run as top line lw. he's far superior in all nhl aspects currently and well you know... here already and will be signed for less in the long run.

Pearson is a guy that can really turn into a gem of a winger. Already on the team.

Toffoli is already stud.

Once his contract ends, it will have been seven years since the Kings drafted him.

Pearson needs to be kept out of the top 6 until he's signed long term. Don't need him putting up a bunch of points in a contract year. Good thing we got Sutter coaching. :naughty:

This is why i like Sutter playing McNabb with Doughty, why not, he is one of the best in the world what he does.
Hope McNabb starts to hit high notes consistently against top competition in the most pressure-packed games.
