I don't see the point

Edit: Why the **** is Doughty blocking Overchicken's one timer for this crappy contest?

Because he is a hockey player, plain and simple and why your relentless posts about tanking will never happen while him or kopi or quick or carter or muzz or Marty or. King or Lewis etc,etc , your posts get more and more annoying because they can't do anything but play their best and win or lose they will do their best and most of us will pay our money for seats, 12dollar beers and 6dollar pretzels and enjoy the **** out of it for as long as we can

I don't see the point of trying to make the playoffs when you know the team is flawed and can't be competitive. Add to that the short window the Kings have to turn things around before everyone is playing like Brown.

I figure they need
-Kempe/Amadio to both break out and hit the NHL in 2 years by the trade deadline.
- top 4D, don't have a lot of cash to do this.
-A couple of other D (McNabb/Forbort/Gravel/LaDue) to play like top 4D but play on the 3rd pair. Remember Martinez tearing it up on the 3rd pairing when the Kings had a defense.
-Dumping Brown would help, but may not happen.

It's going to take a few miracles to get this team back to where it needs to be to actually compete. Add to that Dought's 10.5-11M contract in a couple of years and things aren't getting easier.

Dude, seriously, get a hold of yourself.

NHL goalies will be wearing new streamlined pants to start season but new streamlined chest protector/uppers not ready to start this season.

Hope to implement narrower, rounded arms/elbow floaters in season; rest of changes/new parameters not yet finalized

The new gear should make things interesting...no more goalies that look like transformers.

Dreger: I couldn't get #Flames or my sources there to confirm reported Gaudreau numbers, but I was told 'it is a boatload of money.' 1040

8 x 8 I'd guess

I was thinking 8x8, but now it would not surprise me if he wants even more per year for an 8 year deal.

Like in-season alterations? Maybe during the Christmas break or All-Star game?

from what I've read, it up to the manufacturers and when they are complete, Bobby MAc said the NHL didn't specify a date , that is TBD sometime this season.

That's not much time to give the goalies time to work with it.
Unless they all already have a set that they are working with and just waiting on being able to do full runs of the items.

Instant pile of goals scored after one night.

So you knew the Sharks and Penguins were going to be cup finalists at this time last year?

Nope... but I'm pretty sure the Kings with their defense and that forward group isn't going to be a cup contender.

Yeah... not why is Doughty blocking shots, but why is he in a tournament that doesn't mean much so he can try and break his foot by blocking one timers.

Enjoying hockey is great, but I still want to win, and think this group can do it. Just have to patch a couple of holes.

Dude, seriously, get a hold of yourself.

Yeah I'm freaking out. Seeing a return to the 20th ranked offense, the defense is not deep enough for Sutter to rely as heavily as he will on it. The top 6 forward group is scary. Who know's maybe Gravel and LaDue will have breakout years and Amadio will come out of nowhere, they all make the team by December and they roll right along. Oh and Brown turns into a top 6 forward!

Sorry I'll try and internalize my depression. ;)

I fail to see how our defense is any worse than the start of last year, and last year our defense was pretty damn good in the regular season. Good enough that LA was thought of as a cup contender going into the playoffs by many people who get paid to predict this kind of stuff.

For D gone is Schenn in is Gravel, Forbort, Gilbert or Trotmann. Send Scuds and Greene to Ontario.

Also one more year of experience for McNabb, in which he should improve (hypothetically). I'm more concerned about the 3C spot, but Lewis/Shore were adequate before the trade for Vinny. The team actually had a solid record before that trade, only after is when things started to fall apart. Perhaps the team's chemistry was altered too much when Schenn and VL came on board.

They were 25-12-2, or 52 points in 39 games, 1.33 points per game, before the trade. From the trade until they clinched a spot, 19-10-3, good for 1.28 points per game. One was 109 points over 82 games, the other 105 points. That was with Gaborik out, and Toffoli going cold for a while. Gaborik was also pretty non-existent in the first half.

Then after they clinched, they went on their second 3 game regulation loss streak of the year, finished 4-6-1, and couldn't hold a 3-0 late 2nd period lead against the Jets at home in a win the division last game of the season, nor could they pull of yet another 3v3 win. Then they played the way they did all regular season against the Sharks in the 1st round, and it wasn't pretty.

You must be a new Kings fan....in the 22 years I've been following them, there's been FAR worse lineups to stress over, this ain't one of em.

You've got a top 3 goaltender, a top 3 center, and the best defenseman in the league. Yeah, life is horrible!

Ummmm....wouldn't that be tampering as he is Kings property?

If this conversation took place, they would probably have had permission from the Kings. It's been so back and forth with this guy I can't remember if there was any chatter about trying to move his rights. I would be surprised if they were approached and said no to anyone who wanted to talk to him, unless they have some plans for him (seems unlikely).

From the bottom of that article:

"Prokhorkin also noted that the Oilers and Flames inquired about trading for his rights, with a Calgary deal coming close to completion before falling through. Given that the Kings didn't make a move without him in this timeframe (they haven't made a trade together since 2009), that would likely mean that the deal would've specifically been about him and that the Kings were ready to move on. With that considered, the fact that the Leafs spoke directly to him was almost certainly a matter of having permission rather than a tampering effort, as some might be initially thinking as they read this."

Just speculation, but makes sense.

Also wonder if Porkins was part of the trade talks re: Richards to Calgary.

Yep, especially since another team successful in getting him to come over would likely help the Kings by giving them an asset in return for Porkins who they couldn't convince themselves.

I wonder if the Kings are playing a sort of waiting game with the guy. They can hold out for a pretty good asset considering his KHL numbers and play. Or, in 2 years it wouldn't surprise me to see the Kings all but guarantee him a spot given the dearth of high-end prospects in the system and it being their last gasp with this core.

I would be surprised to see him moved on the cheap. Personally I'd rather keep him as a backup plan rather than trade him for a mid-late rounder. If they can pry a 2nd out of someone, I'd be all for it.

Just read the FUNNIEST thing on the Pens board...Doughty gets sheltered by his partners!!! Poor McNabb and Schenn always picking up DD's slack and let's not forget about Muzzin, who he has played with only 1 full season.
