I'm not sure if anyone here listens to Roenick podcast, but man is he still bitter at being left off the 2006 Olympic team . Everyone saw just how bad he was with the Kings in 2005, including Lombardi who had no intentions of bringing him back, yet he still thinks he played good enough to make the team.

I don't think there is anyone in all of sports I respect less than Roenick.

Chicago Tribune says Panarin asking 6yrs at 6M per, which is about right given his projected path forward.

Problem is he's one of 10 expiring contracts for them this year. More creative accounting issues for Bowman.

Bob McKenzie theorizing on TSN of Brent Burns contract, which given he'll be 32 when the new deal kicks in, the same age as Byfuglien who got 7.6 x 5 yrs. Felt Burns would get something between that and the 9M Subban got.

Let's see the Hawks come out of this one.

Let's see the Hawks come out of this one.

They have 43M tied up in Toewes, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson and Hossa

Doesn't leave a whole lot more...
If they sign Panarin to 6M, for 17/18 they would then have 64 M committed to 7 forwards, 4 d and 1 goalie.

That's just brutal.

Right now, they are 70.6M
and then there is this wrinkle:

If the Hawks were to sign Panarin before this season, Bowman will have to deal with the NHL's "tagging rule" in the collective bargaining agreement that effectively stipulates a team can not commit money to the following season that would exceed the current season's cap ($73 million).

Yikes, they're in a sticky situation. Wonder who else they will cut to make room for him. That Seabrook contract is looking uglier by the day.

Dennis Seidenberg signs with the Islanders. I agree with Dreger, good deal.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 12 minil y a 12 minutes

7 teams were in on Seidenberg, including Ottawa. All wanted to wait, but Isles step up. 1 yr, $1 million. Good deal.

And the Devils signed Kyle Quincey to a 1 yr deal.
