Price is amazing. My point was about perception.

Kings get hate. Just mock it and enjoy eating a double double in December while being able to wear shorts outside.

That of course is the problem. The Kings don't have enough quality D as it is. They cannot give up Muzzin or Martinez. They also have to free up cap space. The idea that Winnipeg has all these forwards better than Toffoli (as others seem to claim) is ludicrous.

RW WPG has Wheeler and Laine do you think they need another wing?

Picking up Trouba while keeping both Martinez and Muzzin would be awesome. The cap may be an issue there. Kings would have to jettison some cap space. Also if this team trades Toffoli who's going to score goals? I get that the Kings offense was great last year, but I'm not sure what losing 2 productive top 6 forwards in one Summer would do. Then replacing them with Brown/Purcell/that Shark guy who's turning his life around.

Swapping one of Muzzin/Martinez for Trouba doesn't really help much next year, but it moves the hole to the LHD where the Kings have more options in the future. Plus we got Scuderi who can fill in on the left! :naughty:

Laine has played how many games in the NHL? I hate the idea of losing TT but the Kings have shown they can win a cup without much offense. They haven't done squat without a great D.

While true, I don't know if I can watch a team that has both Brown/Purcell in the top 6 all year, before injuries start. That's going to be brutal.

Man,

I think a lot of people are underestimating what the return for Trouba will be.

I'm hoping the value will be lowered by crazy contract demands and only a few teams having the pieces WPG needs.

There is no way the Kings could come up with the best package. The Kings either have pieces that are to valuable to the team to realistically trade or pieces that other teams could clearly top.

A young, right handed shooting defenseman with his ceiling very rarely hits the market.

I would swap Martinez for Trouba. That seems to fix both teams' glut in the left and right sides.

You would, the Jets wouldn't. And as much as I love AMart, he's not in that conversation. And he's 7 years older that Trouba. I agree with Bob McKenzie , the Jets will get a 'huge haul' for him. And given how many teams covet a Right handed d, someone will overpay. The Coyotes have been interested in him for awhile now and have a ton of blue chip, top young prospects to offer as part of a package. The Leafs have a boatload of top young talent and prospects and need a Rightie. But there are the usual suspects that have been shopping for a D, like the Bruins , Stars and Oilers as well as the Rangers and Devils possibly.

And if the Jets can't trade for a Left handed D, if the best trade package available doesn't include that, they could always sign Kris Russell to round out the top 4 with Enstrom, Myers and Bfy

Wonder how much Marchand will command as a UFA next summer.

He wants in the neighborhood of 7.5 per x 7 or 8 term. And Pitts is very interested , from what I read last week, because of how well he player with Sid which has been a bit of an issue for the pens, the revolving wingers there. How they'd afford that is another story, unless Malkin is moved (which he should be, given his age and injury issues)

Gaborik has had a great tournament. He might be the Kings' x-factor this season. Someone will have to pick up the scoring slack.

i guess canada will win this tourney, but they are losing the edge a bit, still the best, but the margin is getting smaller. artificial teams kids & europe showed what professional pride means, good job for both teams. i didn't expect a lot from this tourney, but it turned out like a lot of fun.
