Bryzgalav is terrible. there is no other description for him. I mean he looks like Quick at Quick's worse at all times. He never has a clue. How can Philly keep him on the team?

Honestly, he's probably been better than 80% of the goalies the Flyers have brought in. That's how bad that position has been.

You'd think it's the system but the man rarely even reacts to the GA's. that says he has no idea where the puck is.

They could use an amnesty buyout on Bryzgalov and very easily overpay for Bernier (and probably should on both fronts). I'm sure Deano is looking forward to that conversation on draft day.

It is thought that they are going to use one on Briere as well if they cannot trade him. That is a ton of money to ultimately pay out for nothing.

Something like Bernier for Couturier? Value seems similar. He'd be a nice replacement for Stoll if we don't retain him and could grow with our core...

Looks like Calgary is in full "Edmonton" tank mode. Vancouver scores early to take a 1-0 lead.

It will a big battle between Colorado and Calgary.

Colorado is already down 2-0 to Phoenix.

I really think Bernier would be great for the Flyers. His technique isn't mindblowing but he's always in the right place and he makes great decisions. He's also mentally stable which certainly hasn't been the case with Bryz.

But I'm sure they'll just sign some over the hill goalie in offseason after dumping Bryz and have a goalie war between whoever and Mason :shakehead

It's sad really, there really are high hopes for Mason among some Flyers fans because of how bad Bryz has been. It's very easy to see that they haven't actually seen Mason play. Bernier would be good for them, but he would buckle playing in front of that Swiss cheese defense in that pond hockey system. Until there is an organizational mindset change, it doesn't matter who's in net, because that team is going to give-up goals.

Flames and Avs are in full tank mode

Mason could still be a lot better than Bryz. I doubt he will be turned on any time soon.

Also, there is potential there. Maybe the situation in Columbus just went toxic for him personally.

And Tambellini would still pick a forward, the dumb***.

They do say draft the best player avail. But in his case he could make an exception they need D so bad. Not that I want them to get it with the potential offensive firepower they have if they get good on D they will be a force.

Hard not to with all that projected offensive talent

Trade some away and get an established defenseman, bottom six player(s), and a tough guy (along the lines of Ott). That would do wonders. But he won't because he's a clown.

The Southeast Division is a joke

I haven't paid much attention to the East for obvious reasons, but I noticed Carolina has gone into a tailspin and the rest of the teams in that conference just plain suck.

Caps lead it with a .500 record. The rest of the teams are below .500 (a loss is a loss, period).

Can't wait for the six-seed to clown whomever comes out of this division. The NHL is very smart to re-align next season, not a moment too soon.

I wouldn't want to face Washington in the first round right now. They have turned it around and are playing well. And right now that sixth seed is Ottawa, who is hurting to say the least.
But that is kind of the story of the SE the last few years.

If they fall out of the top spot in that division they drop down to at least 10th in the conference. You'd think one team would be decent playing that competition but they are all awful.

It because this years schedule your not playing your own division as much as in the past. It's either 4 or 5 games vs 3 in conference.
Once all is finished I think the winner will have been able to get the 8th spot. But could be wrong.

Is it a coincidence that the weakest division in the East every year is the one that has teams in non-traditional hockey markets? And I still consider the Jets the Thrashers since their roster is still pretty much the one they had in Atlanta.

Explain the Pacific being the strongest? And the NW being the weakest year after year....
