For being a team of legend the Avs sure have a disgustingly fragile goalie and some little bitch named Girard weighing 160 on D? They both got exposed today. The Kings of Old would never fold like this.

F-ing Avs. Aside from the 1st game, you sucked and your top line was a no-show. The 4th goal was another example of poor hockey decisions...again!

So our only hope really for Vegas not to win the Cup is if they get beat by the Islanders/Lightning. I don't see the Habs stopping them at all.

Yep, they showed no backbone or no desire to win this series soon as the series was tied.

18m over the cap is absurd.

It's a loophole that needs to be closed.

It was clear to everyone that Kucherov and previously Patrick Kane took full advantage of the letter of the law, but they both operated in bad faith of the 'spirit' of the law, both teams made acquisitions KNOWING a player was coming back and putting them over. I'm just not sure how you close that without eliminating LTIR altogether.

I do like the idea of a small % cap increase for the playoffs so it isn't prohibitive of shopping at the deadline, but for this loophole, maybe something as simple as LTIR is ineligible for the playoffs if they either don't play 10% of the regular season OR they have to reserve the cap space for the injured player.

Edit: Example--EVERYONE knew Kane and Kucherov would be back. In these instances, the teams could make the pickups they need to stay afloat in the season, but couldn't ice a roster any given night OVER the cap--ie you'd have to bench your acquisitions to play Kane or Kucherov (so Hawks would have to sit Vermette et. al. if they want to put Kane back in--so the TEAM can exceed the cap, but the iced roster can't).

The Kings did it with Gaborik in 15-16 too. Less fanfare, less success, but did it they did.

As of right now I think a Vegas-Tampa finals is inevitable. Funny enough I think the Lightning are the only team able to beat the Knights and the Knights are the only team who can beat the Lightning.

Major props to Vegas. They were the way better team after the Game 1 massacre.

I still don’t know why they are so hated in here, is it that 2018 playoff series? Any team would have beaten the Kings that year.

I’m cool with any of the remaining 4 winning it.

Come on guys do we really want Montreal to advance and deal with Quebecois elitists all year long?

Embrace the VGK. You know you want to. xD

My guess is the majority of ppl here would have no problem if the Kings did something similar to Tampa.

Look no further than the reactions here when the Kings tried to get out of the worst contract in the NHL under very dubious circumstances. The reactions were mostly

“They are just playing by the rules”
“Dean is a genius, good to have a lawyer who understands loopholes as GM”

Vegas and the Isles play a style of playoff hockey that is a joy to watch. The Habs beat two mediocre teams, I don't consider them contenders here. Tampa is loaded to the gills.

I think Vegas makes short work of Montreal, Tampa wins in six, and Vegas wins the Cup.

You mean the series when the Kings best player was Quick? That series when everyone was playing like absolute dog shit and Quick was standing on his head?
That he lost all four games?

Yeah, that one.

I wouldn’t sleep on the Habs. Price is playing out of his mind and their young studs are all stepping up in a big way. Vegas is obviously the favorite but I wouldn’t bet the house.
