Safe to say Caufield’s size isn’t hindering him in playing in the NHL.
He looks great on the power play and when he gets some space in the neutral and offensive zone. As he gets more experience hes going to find ways to utilize his skill and be more effective every shift in tight 5 vs 5 situations. Hes a smart player.

That's one thing people sold him short on in his draft year. You can see how superior his hockey IQ is in the offensive zone by the plays that he makes.

He's also made Forbort look like a complete pylon on quite a few shifts in this game.

Looks like they'll be heading to the Conference Finals the way this series is going.

And Forbort has had a brutal game. If you guys thought he was unpopular here, you should see what Jets fans are saying about him.

And he's got a bit of a chip (deservedly so) on his shoulder. I remember how pissed off he looked at the draft when he kept slipping down, out of top 10 etc.

‘I’ll have a little bit of a chip on my shoulder for those teams that passed on me’: Cole Caufield’s whirlwind summer

“Obviously, I’m kind of disappointed with how long it took,” Caufield said. “But I couldn’t have been happier with the spot I got to be picked. It’s a great place here. I’m going to fit right in here. I have no disappointments on where where I ended up, but yeah, I’d say I’ll have a little bit of a chip on my shoulder for those teams that passed on me.

He is a special player, as offensively gifted as any I have seen at his previous level. The crazy thing is the shots (his best asset) aren't even going in, and that will come, the passes and dekes though...

As far as the draft, it's is Kopitar all over again. Except instead of Slovenia it's 5'7. He should have been the #3 overall pick in that draft just as Anze should have been #2.

If Colorado can't handle Vegas, they got no shot against TB. Unfortunately, looks like TB is going to keep the title.

It's not the Barzal trade for the hundredth time.

A pick was traded. It's usually the Connor trade but he didn't play tonight so, today, it's the Barzal trade.

The guy that took Lewis and Forbort in front of studs traded a pick that he generally f***ed up but this is the one he was going to nail because... scuttlebutt after the fact?

Futa came out and said they were going to take Barzal if he were there. Dean Lombardi was not taking a winger like Connor in the 1st round.

I see no reason for Futa to lie, and he has never made statements like that in the past.

Vegas is just a great great team. Its amazing that this far into their existence people (me included) continue to doubt them. They are constructed a lot different than the Kings great teams, but the compete level and commitment to strong defensive play is similar. They have suffocated the Avs.

How many games has he played? People said the same shit about Gaudreau. How’s that working out for Calgary?

Umm... Gaudreau has 494 points in 520 career games and just led the Flames in scoring with 49 points this past season, so I'd say he's worked out quite well for Calgary.

Would you be upset if Alex Turcotte produced numbers like that?

Vegas with all the momentum now. Colorado is going to have to move to another level of physical play, fighting through checks, winning board battles, etc., or they may be toast.

I fully expect this to go seven games, but guys on Colorado like Landeskog are going to have to be very evident in Denver in the next game.

Colorado is also trying to be too fine with open shots trying to pick corners against Fleury. Shots have to be on goal, and maybe something will find the five-hole, or seven-hole.

18 games, which would easily be enough of a sample size for you and some others to bury him as a "midget" who "can't play playoff hockey"

Do you really think a guy making some of the plays that he is making now, in playoff games at age 20 after jumping straight onto the team from college isn't going to get even better as he gets stronger and more used to the system next season?

I mean, I understand some of the concerns and doubts coming in, just like there aren't many guys from Slovenia there aren't many guys who are 5'7, that is a fact. But come on, its obvious he is going to be a dynamic offensive star in the NHL, probably starting next season. His offensive everything is world class.

Points aren’t everything and you know that. He wilts like spinach in a sauna when the games matter and Calgary can’t even make the playoffs let alone win a round with him as their best player. So yeah it worked out great if sucking ass is the goal.

Caulfield is skating with Suzuki and Toffoli, which the Habs seemed to do everything to keep from happening until their backs were against the wall vs Toronto.

And they’re getting good ice time for a third line unit at just under 15 minutes. The equivalent line for the Kings if Kaliyev were in the CC spot would be Kaliyev Vilardi Iafallo. But you know coach Todd would never conceive of such a thing when it comes to linemates and deployment.

Credit to Caufield and Toffoli for playing well, but Suzuki is a gamer who elevates the linemates.

I saw Suzuki as a Richards-like skill player who punches above his weight class.

He is absolutely the straw that stirs the drink for that line. Kid is gonna be a hell of a player for a long time.

The Lewis pick was straight up a Murray pick, same as Bernier. These weren't DL scouts, and you can bet if he had his guys in there [ like in future drafts] both picks would've been different. There was a interview with him after and you could tell he wasn't all that thrilled , but had to go with his scouts picks. Forbort was a bust, in the same way Boyle was from 2003. Too long to develop and never living up to his potential.

The trades in 2015, and 2016 hurt this team more than anything else DL did as GM. We'd be in a much better place today without those mistakes.

Sure. But is it the Barzal trade or the Connor trade? It always changes by the poster and which guy just had a good game.

That's the point of my post.

Kings could be drafting #12 instead of #8. :naughty:

Yeah, i guess they assume we drafted one of those guys and traded him that summer. The only name I've ever heard from kings scouts is Barzal, which is pretty much what I believe. No matter what, it was bad asset management.
