Wow the Ducks are screwed. I guess the retirement rumors might have some truth to them.

Also, Voynov has already got his punishment. Watson's verdict means nothing to me.

You're out to lunch if you think Voynov isn't getting an official league suspension at some point. It's gonna happen. The only question is how long.

Oh I know he is, I think it's stupid that they will. I'm saying the amount of games he's missed and the deportation is punishment enough from a leagues POV. Any more punishment would be stupid. But it will happen sadly.

How the hell can Tampa afford him? 6.5 this year, plus 11 or more for an extension. They have only 500k more in cap space than we do.

They can afford him. You add the 2.6 they have now with the salary of whatever players would be going back and they'd have more than the 6.5 for this year.

As far as next year and beyond, 9 to 9.5 in TB is equal to 11 in most other NHL cities. Girardi and COburn come off the books after this year, that is 6.7 M . Callahan was in the early trade rumors (Rangers) that's 5.8. If they want to ink Strahlman though, they'd have to move a contract. They do have some other bottom tier player to decide on.
But for a player like Karlsson, given the talent they have already, they'd find a way

Stralman/Coburn/Girardi are in the last years of their deals which frees up 11.2 million. They could free up 2.66 mil by buying out Ryan Callahan next June. And if they need to create some space, they could probably move one of Palat/Johnson/Killorn.

Wow Montreal fans displaying full ignorance and homerism in a Phaneuf trade proposal their own fan started.

Now that Bergevin traded away Pacioretty he's a trading savant again and they could get a 1st for Tatar if they traded him.
That's why I'm enjoying the mess that their franchise is. Most of them are idiots.

wish that were true but EK is really great at both ends of the ice now.

Can he be? Absolutely.

Is he? Not at all consistently, and even Sens fans were trashing him last year. They just don't often let the main board see it, because that would hurt the mythos.

I know it was a while ago but the narrative that he does not play defense changed for me at the last Olympics that NHL players were at

Brent Burns, Erik Karlsson, Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, Evander Kane... that's going to be a fun PP unit to try to stop.
