That would make SJ's defense incredibly formidable with two incredible offensive difference makes from the back end. It sucks that it would come at our expense, because I truly can't think of any precedent for that...like having two x Paul Coffey back there. Burns and Karlsson...but also Vlasic.

Seriously. Too bad the Kings didn't get involved considering that's the cost. Obviously the Kings would've had a nightmare scenario trying to re-sign him after the year but screw it.

Meh. I'm just glad he didn't go to Vegas, will be interesting to see how they make it work long-term paying Burns, Vlasic and Karlsson ~$25M starting in 19-20.

EDIT: It changed Vlasic to "classic" should've seen that coming.

I'm guessing he gets 11 like Doughty, so 26-ish? They already have 9 players under $1M on the roster, 6 of which are RFA. Pavelski is gone after this year for sure, and possibly Thornton. Jumbo is still effective though, so it's hard to say. Either way it's going to be a crunch.

I'm guessing the trade would be something like Donskoi, multiple high picks, and Merkley.

Wilson going all in now. Their prospect pool isn't that great and their window was closing fast with Pavelski, Thornton and Burns getting up their in age. I'm shocked that the Stars couldn't/didn't want to make a deal with them. Unless the Sens were hell bent on getting Heiskanen then I think the Stars could have made this happen. I'm shocked that Wilson was able to keep hold of Meier, Hertl and Merkely.

Can you imagine if people who wanted Doughty traded got their wish and this was the return? Holy hell I can't get over how bad the package is. Sounds like that got another 2nd which becomes a 1st if they re-sign him AND make it to the SCF but it's still not good considering San Jose will likely finish out of the lottery the next few years.

There's a part of me that's excited that we now get Doughty Karlsson head-to-head at least 5 times per season and possibly in a playoff series.

There's another part of me that's not excited that now the Karlsson trolls and the Shark trolls will merge together to form mega ultra Sharklsson trolls.
