That's a back breaker. Can't give up a goal after making it 4-2. It was the right call, but surprised they had the stones to overturn it. We've seen it called no goal before with less contact.

Washington is the quintessential "Play for the season. Relax for the playoffs." team.

I don't think they relax, I just don't think they have that moxy you need in a playoff run and never have. There is a big hole in their locker room. And as good as Ovie is, it wont' happen with him, for the same reason it hasn't thru 10 yrs and 4 coaches.

Justin Williams isn't enough to give them what they need. As much as he's trying, It takes a strong leadership group in a playoff run. Players who have that mental strength and resilience.

Trotz is a good coach but he shouldn't have signed on with the Titantic.

Lundqvist losing another double-OT game. Good times.

They coughed up a 2 goal lead 3x and no excuse for having a 5-3 lead with less than 4 min left and losing a playoff game.

They showed both benches, a sweeping camera shot during OT and the Rangers looked defeated to a man, every face. I thought 'they're already done'. The Senators bench looked entirely different. Which surprised me. Rangers aren't playoff newbies, they've done this before.

I've been told this is entirely normal and ok.

The frustrating thing to me is that teams like Washington never go anywhere but they're always taking a spot. When will Washington finally just suck in general? it was like those Blues teams that would always make it a round or two and job for the eventual cup winner.

The majority of teams that make the playoffs are just taking a spot. Then with a little health, a hot streak or two, they can go deep.

Less than a handful of sure fire contenders. Less than a handful of teams fully rebuilding. Probably at least 75% of the league just wants to make the playoffs in a given year, because even though people don't like it, you never actually know what can happen.

Over the previous eight seasons, only four teams have been able to win the Cup: CHI (3X), LA (2X), PIT (2X), and BOS (1X).

Goes to show how tough it is to win the Cup when there hasn't been any back-to-back champs since the Red Wings did it in '97 and '98.

But at least I can call myself a back-to-back HF Fantasy Hockey Champ ;)

That shift by the Preds was Sutter's wet dream. Possession forever and then one shot from the point...goal.

In the 11 seasons so far since the 05 lockout, 10 different teams have been to the western conference final. That's an average of almost 1 new team every year. It doesn't always work out that way, as Chicago has been there 5 times, the Cali trifecta have been there 3 times each, and Detroit's been there 3 times, but they're now in the East.

It's not easy, and it's not supposed to be easy.

NESN reporting that the Pastrnak's 34G, 70 pt season will net him a good raise, that if the Bruins offer a bridge deal to the 20 yr old , it could be similar to Panarin's 2 yr , 6M per. I can't believe bridge deals have come to that, 6M per...

Another rumor (not a new one) is that STevie Y is trying to move Drouin
and that the Ducks are a very interested party as they have to move a top d or risk losing one to the Vegas Knights.

Something that was alluded to here:

LeBrun's last column for ESPN,

For my money, the coming offseason will be the busiest in the 100-year history of the NHL
.

So much of it comes back to what decisions the Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild make leading up to the expansion draft. The Ducks and Wild can't protect all of their depth on defense, but there's no way they're just going to let the new Vegas Knights take a good blueliner for free in the expansion draft, either. I think they will either made a side deal with Vegas or simply trade whichever defenseman they can't protect in the draft to another NHL team.

He also wonders the future of Marleau and Thornon, noting that the Sharks will likely offer a 1 yr deal to Big Joe but his agent would like 3. And that Jones and Vlasic's new contracts will likely have an effect on that.

Edmundson, Parayko, Lehtera, Schwartz, Tarasenko were caught on-ice for 1:55 prior to 3-1 NASH goal.
