If they win another one in the next two years then I think its fair to call them a dynasty.

They also won in 2009, went to the finals in 2008 and the conf finals in 2013. It's been a pretty dominant decade.

Lemieux said after the game that the Pens aren't a dynasty yet. Said they have to win 4 or 5 in a row to be considered a dynasty. Pretty tough standards. I think in the new age 3 in 5 is good enough to be considered a "dynasty."

I can't see it unless they shed cap. Didn't someone's postman's neice's boyfriend say that Perry might be moved?

lol yeah, someone on LAKI who claims to know someone who personally knows Perry said that Perry won't be back.

How does a franchise get lucky enough to have Lemieux and Jagr, then get Crosby and Malkin?

Beelzebub has surely moved on from Pittsburgh. Nothing left for sale there.

Off-Season Watch: Deadline to waive no-move clause looms

Time to Ask

Teams have until today at 5pm ET to ask players with no-movement clauses to waive them for the expansion draft.

"According to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, the Blue Jackets have not approached forward Scott Hartnell to ask him to waive his no-move clause and it doesn't appear that they will.

Portzline also confirms a report that the Blue Jackets have discussed sending David Clarkson to the Golden Knights to help Vegas reach the cap floor. The Golden Knights would have to pay Clarkson just $1.05 million per year as his insurance policy covers the other 80 per cent of his $5.25 million salary. Clarkson's career is believed to be over to due to a back injury and he is among the players listed by the NHL and NHLPA as exempt from the expansion draft due to injury."

Another negative about Pittsburgh winning is that knob Hainsey getting his name on the cup. Can't stand that guy ever since the lockout.

Hah. I had exactly the opposite reaction. Loved his goal in the blowout and feel pretty good about him finally 1. making the playoffs, and 2. getting the career-capper.

Yup, they got severely hosed on that goal in the 2nd....horrible premature whistle.

I have never seen a playoff series that whenever there was a close call / non-call, the same team got every single call to go their way.

It was kinda amazing when you think about it.

and when Nashville challenged the pitt goal last night, the ref announced "no GI" in a "don't bother me with your petty challenges, I've got a lot on my plate" kind of attitude.

How did Pittsburgh get every single call? Power plays were 4 to 0 for Nashville including a 5 on 3 for a play Ekholm had been doing all series long (punching people in the face). Not to mention that clear dive by Wilson on their first power play (was that before or after the no-goal call?).

It was after and was clearly a make-up call.

Anyone mention how much they hate the Pens. Cuz if they haven't then I'm mentioning now. My goodness I hate the pens. Especially their fans and their announcers.

Annoyed Pittsburgh is going back to back. We'll never hear the end of it.

Incoming multiple 'Dynasty' threads.

Yep. A few months ago the Blackhawks got laughed off the forum for suggesting 3 in 6 or even 4 in 7 is close to a dynasty/team of the decade. Now, 3 in 9 years is great

Still only 4 teams have won the cup since 2009. Kings are part of that group. TWICE.

Pens win back-to-back with no #1 d-man and with horrible Corsi, proving everyone wrong all the way to the cup.

Now all anyone needs to do is draft generational superstars back to back to follow the formula!

It's a truly crazy thing. They've been blessed with uber talent over the years.

I can genuinely say I'm happy for those players after they won last night. They've been through a lot and it's never possible for me to be mad at the smiles on their faces, even the players I hate. Have to respect the champs, we know what it takes to get there, fighting through injuries, luck, circumstance.

That being said, **** Pittsburgh. **** JR and his incessant whining. **** that diving whiny team acting like a bunch of martyrs. **** their media for mocking Nashville as a non-hockey town and trying to discredit them the entire time while Pittsburgh was the team in danger of relocation when they weren't being gifted superstars. The amount of smug entitlement hovering over that franchise drives me to insanity more than it should given I genuinely like Mario, Sid, and a lot of the other guys (Malkin can go **** himself though if he can keep his elbows down long enough to do it).

Nashville was a class act the entire time, even in losing. So much respect gained around the hockey world.

I know some Pens fans personally and my god were they insufferable throughout these Playoffs. This one guy would blame every single Pens loss on the refs, (and the opposing team's ice if it was an away game). I wish I was exaggerating but it was every.single.loss. Then when the Pens had a couple of blowouts, he would act like that's how the Pens would win every time if the refs just backed off and called it evenly. It literally blew my mind reading that garbage during their run. Not to mention all the other Pens fans chiming in like he spoke nothing but the truth, lol.

My favorite moment was when the Preds 1st goal in Game 1 was waived off in that absolutely disgusting "offsides" call and this guy just shrugged it off like it was no big deal. If that had happened to the Pens, his face would have literally have melted off like in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The entitlement is out of control with a large portion of that fanbase. It's not all of them, but it sure is a lot of them.

I really wanted the Preds to win this series, but they just ran out of steam. Granted RyJo was out for the series and they had a couple of huge momentum goals wrongly taken away. However Rinne still played awful in Pitt and their PP was Kings-level atrocious. That Game 6 5-on-3 was so bad. With that said, I gained a ton of respect for that city and fanbase. I never really care who wins as long as it's not the Ducks, Sharks or Canucks. However I found myself actively rooting for a team that wasn't us for the first time ever. How that market was treated by all the talking heads really pissed me off too. Preds fans are not a flash in the pan, they have supported that team for a while now. They and that city deserve some damn respect.

**** the Penguins

DW-

Blew my mind reading posters on the main board trashing the Preds fan base based solely on the fact they are in Nashville and not in a "traditional" hockey market.

As a longtime STHer, I have nothing but respect for the environment those fans created in their building. This is an entertainment business and going to a game in that atmosphere is everything the NHL could of dreamed of from its southern expansion but then you've got all these clowns deriding it.

As for Pittsburgh fans, they are pretty insufferable when taken as a whole and this is only going to make things worse.

That being said, pride comes before the fall. This place was smug as all **** after 2014.

I watched those games in Nashville and wished I could have attended at least one.

And if Pittsburgh is so much better than Nashville in supporting their team, why were the tickets for sale on Stub Hub for games in Nashville at least twice as expensive than tickets for games in Pittsburgh.

But they had a sell out crowd for a game watch on a Sunday night at $10 a pop when their team had a chance to win the Cup! The best fans!! Team was out the door until the Crosby gift but they have the best fans!!!

The thread on the main board *****ing about NBC's lack of coverage of the Pens watch party is just a whole other level of entitlement and spoiled baby syndrome. You just won back-to-back cups and you're going to have the nerve to complain about anything, let alone that?!

Interesting that Karlsson received a vote. I don't know of another situation where a non-Finalist got on the ballot.

I don't think I've ever heard of that either. And he got 1 vote, same as Matt Murray.

also from EF, players who were not asked to waive their NMC
Rangers- Girardi or Staal
Isles- Boychuck or Ladd

At the Mar 1 deadline, he agreed to waive his NMC for an 'unnamed ' team (trade), but that fell thru. I think there are some viable options not named Vegas. The Flames for one.

Oh and the Flyers and Jordan Weal agreed on term, ironing out the $$ part. I'm glad, he was terrific down the stretch and should be strong in the top 6 next year with reg. linemates.

Karlsson's playoff was unbelievable, I mean look at that roster. I think he may be the single most important player to his team since Hasek in the late 90's.

Take him in the expansion draft and then flip him for a 1st round pick .

Some pundits think Vegas will take more than the mandatory minimum of 3 goalies. I suppose it might be a wise move if they can target the right team(s) as a trading partner for their excess goaltending.

Not sure many teams are looking for a #1 goalie in the off season though. Dallas for example, has two, too many goaltenders. A team like Calgary may take a flyer on one of those guys.

lol how dumb. They pick one part of a 3 hour long celebration.

The one thing I'll give NBC props for though (goodness, did I just say that?) is that they stayed on air and live during the celebration immediately after the game. ABC showed about 30 seconds after the game and then cut away for 3 minutes of commercials. Missed a huge part of the players celebrating on the court. And then a quick interview on ABC and then guess what, another 3 minute commercial break. And I hated how all the NBA players kids and families were up on the stage during the trophy presentation. There were so many kids that there were only 2 players in the shot during the trophy presentation. Who the hell wants to see the owners and kids on the stage??
