Chicago is losing Panarin unless he's traded..

Panarin is in the first year of his contract with Chicago. He doesn't need to be protected like Gravel doesn't need to be protected with the Kings because he played that year signed in the AHL where the Kings didn't hold his rights.

Bieksa: Best part is the contract is a 35+ so if they have to buy him out they're still stuck with the cap hit.

I'm not liking the Knight colors......

I had in mind bright green, silver, and white. Then Dallas changed their dark green to bright green.

Maybe purple? Zero teams in the NHL have purple as their main color.

Right now, the Knights just look like the Penguins.......

Panarin is in the 2nd year of his deal isn't he?

Not a huge fan of the name, but I agree with those saying it should be Las Vegas Golden Knights. For the official name, I think you should go with the official name of the city. Then let everyone shorthand it to Vegas when they talk about it. Just like we wouldn't call the official name of the Kings the LA Kings, but we use that as the shorthand all the time.

...also I'm angry now that my username has their team name in it

Oh no  You were too visionary!

Also I agree, might as well have officially shortened "Golden Knights" to "Knights" if that's their reasoning.

Double Lol :laugh::laugh:

The same article that lists the players points out that several--Horton, Clarkson...uh...Lupul? I forget--would later be ignored because of injury, but they're on the list right now.

They actually have the same color palette as the Sens. But I'm okay with it if it's mostly gold, even if it's similar to the Penguins/Bruins, because not much gold in the league. I agree on purple, and I'm sad we've moved away :(

That he is. The rule is 2 years of pro experience or less and they're exempt.

Not to mention that "pro experience" is defined as AHL/NHL experience while on an NHL contract. That is why Gravel is exempt even though this is his 3rd year of "pro" experience.

Hard to say till we see how much red is used in the jerseys. I read somewhere that the silverfish blue color will be the main base color on their homes and not black.

The colors themselves of Gold, Silver, Black and Red are borderline Sens colors. If you move the gold on LA's 50th to the inside it basically looks like the shield in the Knights logo.

Perfect finish in Anaheim, Ducks lose in regulation and the Hawks were gassed just hanging on to the finish.

Just gotta hope Toews is out tomorrow.

By the way, the entire lower goal at Honda Center looked like red jerseys. Going to be 10,000 Hawks fans there tomorrow. Great.

You would think, although Hawk fans think Toews and his contract are on a par with Brown.

Jeez Islanders. Things were looking up for a while, then bad management, bad coaching, and bad luck roared back like Gidrah attacking Tokyo. That team is a frickin' mess.

Doubt it. I feel like every time he's out injuired, when it's a game against the Kings he's back in

Things you didn't think you'd be saying 22 games into the season:

The Kings have more GF than the Sharks.
The Sharks have fewer GA than the Kings.

Florida Panthers let go of Gerard Gallant

Mistake. He's a good coach and agree with What Friedman, Bobby MAc and LeBrun have alluded to. Ownership had his own ideas and Gallant disagreed with the 'changes' . They were good last year and now took a huge step backwards. Hard on the room when you fire the guy they respected, who respected them and they played well for. And Garth Snow and Capuano still have jobs...McPhee ought to put Gallant at the top of his list for the Knights HC

GM Tom Rowe has been named coach . Took over as GM and his ego outgrew the office.

And there's an AP photo of Gallant in Carolina, where the Panthers lost 3-2 tonight, flagging a cab to get a ride to the airporta, after his luggage was removed from the team bus.. Classy Florida, real classy.

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC · 2h2 hours ago

Gallant was given extension last season, but this year he and front office disagreed on direction of the team. Things brewing behind scenes.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun · 29m29 minutes ago

Re: Gallant fired. Always felt like the fix was in even before the season started. Unfair in my books.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie · 55m55 minutes ago

Not that it ultimately matters in terms of decision, but safe to say FLA players largely disappointed/unhappy at Gallant being fired.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie · 48m48 minutes ago

In the eyes of many of his players, Gallant was viewed as a players' coach, one who cared for and looked out for his players.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie · 46m46 minutes ago

That said, everyone, incl players, knew there was likely wide philosophical divide between the bench staff and management/ownership
.

Well that was dumb, Florida. They have all the right players (many of whom are injured right now) and they let go of a coach like that. I'm sure he'll find a job somewhere.

They had a really good season under him last year, then management went and changed the team up in the offseason. They brought in what 5 or 6 new guys and he wasn't happy about it. No wonder their season hasn't gone well.

If only there was a team without a coach. I team looking to get a veteran coach to bring together a bunch of players from other teams. Maybe in the Pacific Division. Willing to pay big money for a legitimate name. Wanting to prove that they are seriously trying to win ASAP. A team in a new market playing a lot of night games
