I'm really tired of players jumping the hitter after a completely clean hit, especially when the player has hit head down.

It was a natural reaction from the Jets, and most of them didn't get the benefit you and I (and other tv viewers ) did by watching it on replay at least once and closeup and even slowmo. They are in realtime in a fast sport. They see their best player get waffled and lying in a pile on the ice or just see him lying on the ice and they react. They did the right and only thing a good teammate does.

The Kings would do the same thing if Carter was waffled and lying in a heap.

Would the Kings? Clifford would. Forbort seems like he would. I can see McNabb and possibly Greene. If Toffoli, Pearson, Muzzin, and Martinez were out there though with Carter, nothing is happening. Kopitar got destroyed against Calgary two years ago and no one on the Kings did anything.

Carter got slashing, Calgary got a pp goal that started that comeback after being down 3-0 and won 4-3. Who knew that single play changed their entire season around and ended any hope of the Kings repeating.

Would LA have any interest in McElhinney? He looked good against LA but I am not sure he is much of an upgrade on Zatkoff if an upgrade at all.

I'd say Martinez over Doughty, but whatever, I get it. There's already no Kopitar or Quick, so you sort of want Doughty's name in there.

Budaj has his moments, but the 3rd highest sv%, and top GAA for goalies that have played over 1000 minutes in the Pacific. He's not doing it by himself, but he's helping keep the Kings in the top 10 in GA. Nobody would've seen that coming. He's earned it.

Martinez is playing better than I expected but no...just no.

Who would have thought Budaj would ever be an NHL all star...it is deserved out of the pacific though

Actually I saw the headline and didn't read the fineprint , the rosters in the article are the NHL.com staff picks.
I corrected it.

Official rosters will be announced tomorrow

gotcha. I could see Budaj getting the nod. I think Jones is a lock and the 2nd goalie is between Talbot and Dudaj.

Leave Martinez home too, that's fine, but Doughty shouldn't be on any first half all-star teams.

Actually Dudaj would be a fitting name for him this year. Sometimes accidental misspellings can bring out the truth.

Doughty may not be a Norris finalist, but it would be impossible to come up with better, more deserving d-men from this division. His play has been uneven for sure, I get that, but his 'good' is most d-men's 'phenomenal.' Burns, Drew, I would have gone with Fowler over OEL actually, maybe even Tanev but he's a Vlasic so.

Gustafsson (EDM), McEhlinney (CBJ), Nestrasil (CAR) on waivers.

Jackets calling up Anton Forsberg from the AHL for their 3 game road trip. Mac has been inconsistent and was awful vs the Rangers on Sat and cost them 2 pts.
They need to get a backup they can lean on to give Bob some relief down the stretch and there are certainly some good backups out there.

Kings have a habit of making goalies look good.

Scrivens, Jones, Budaj all looked good when Quick went down.

 Don't forget LaBarbera several (many?) years ago. (even Ersberg)

He got a few easy shutouts without being really tested maybe 5x per game.

The D sure seems to pick up their defensive play when a young inexperienced goalie is in net.

And now when Quick is in goal, they leave him on his own to face everything from the opposing team, and that makes him scramble and flop around way too much. :shakehead

Quick is the most athletic goalie in the league but his aggressiveness leads to being out of position which leads to why he has to scramble and flop as much as he does just as much (if not more) than the team leaving him out to dry. What makes him great is his ability to recover.

Roberto Luongo's win last night, 448, put him in the top 5 all time passing Terry Sawchuk (IMO, might be the best , given the era, no mask, no huge pads and equipment, just skill)

Curtis Joseph 454
Ed Belfour 484
Patrick Roy 551
Marty B...691 (don't think anyone ever passes that)

but he's already planning his future path...

After doing the math.... If I play another 28 years I will still fall about 5-6 wins shy of tying Marty's record!

his tweeter stuff is usually pretty funny

TOR claims Curtis McElhinney from CBJ. Derek Grant (BUF) on waivers.

Good for the Leafs, he's an upgrade over Enroth
