WJC was making me physically ill from the drama (or perhaps it was the Subway sandwich). Shame that it had to go to shootout. Hats off to the kids on both sides, you could tell in OT that many of them were skating on fumes.
This, 1000%
That OT was the best period of hockey I've seen in a long time. It's one of the reasons I love the WJC, to see these kids, from every country, leaving it all on the ice. NHL has a bright future with kids like these growing well
Really impressed with Thomas Chabot and CHaRLIE McAvoy, the SEns and Bruins have themselves 2 stud defensemen to look forward to. I think McAvoy has a shot at making the team next year.
And I was rooting for USA but props to Carter Hart, a Flyers prospect, who played so well for Canada. I can't imagine the pressure on a goalie in OT of a goal medal game in WJC. ANd it came down to 1 shootout goal. Flyers have several good goalies (including Felix Sandstrom from Sweden who got best goalie in the tourny award) in their farm system. Future bright in goal .
I feel bad for the Canadian kids who had the weight of the entire country on their shoulders. Sadly a few fans took to social media to harass a few players after the loss.
Definitely agreed with Chabot as the tournament MVP. McAvoy anchored the US blue line, especially with Ryan Lindgren unable to play last night. Going into the summer showcase a few months back, I was worried that the US defense looked thin on paper but they exceeded my expectations.
I was happy to see Kieffer Bellows with a big game as well. He had a tough tournament up to that point to go along with a tough freshman year at BU.
Hopefully for my keeper league team, Alex Lyon gets in the conversation at some point. Flyers had a good crop in this tournament. Philippe Myers looked great, it's too bad he got concussed on the hit from Kunin.
Watching the USA - Canada finale, I kept thinking of all the North Americans that were playing in the NHL instead and what a difference that might have made.
I would be shocked if any teams make big trades, with the EXP draft looming.
The draft is set up, so that teams lose some good young players.
I've seen some lazy drivers during the winter after snowstorms, who don't clean their cars off ,but this driver takes the cake.
PHoto from the RCMP who pulled him over...unbelievable.....he's lucky he didn't hit somebody or get T-boned because of no visibility.

Canucks and Kings have the same number of regulation wins.
People keep saying the Pacific is weak but it's not aside from Arizona.
Had to wonder how the jackets would react after losing. If the first five minutes are any indication very well.
People consistently say that about the Pacific but other than Chicago the WCF/SCF has been all Pacific teams for years, no?
What’s worse is that if you believe shots taken is a true indicator of possession, no one does it better. You name it — missed, blocked, unblocked, on goal — the Bruins have the highest percentages as compared to their opponents. The Bruins take 54.5 per cent of all shots in games they play, slightly better than number-two Los Angeles.
4. Will anything actually happen? This week’s frustrated quote from a GM: “I don’t know why we’re calling each other. No one is doing anything.” (As always, no one quoted here is used as an anonymous source.)
20. Finally on Philadelphia, Doug MacLean told a great story about why Bob Clarke tripped up on Giroux’s name when the Flyers took him 22nd overall in 2006. According to MacLean, Philly was going to take Trevor Lewis. But the Kings took Lewis 17th, which annoyed Philadelphia, since Hextall had just left for California. Clarke was flustered.
