It wasn't a miracle. Not like it was 1,000 to 1 odds. Point is they now have McDavid and Draisaitl. What are the Kings going to do about it? Nothing.

The Kings won't be getting past the Oilers anytime soon, whether it be in the regular season standings or the playoffs.

I remember many said this about Crosby/Malkin, yet teams did. The Oilers still have a long way to go.

Didn't get to see this yesterday but about time one of his teammates told him to shut the **** up.

So you're saying we just lose, get McDavid, and we're right back in this thing?

Man, I wish 29 other NHL teams had access to the same information you do!

You really don't think McDavid is a 1 in 1000 player, huh? Bold.

~25 NHL teams have never drafted a player like McDavid with any pick. But keep banking on that "just tank to win" strategy, you'll get it right eventually, like the Oilers are starting to.

I think I might enjoy seeing Kesler and the other ******** Ducks in tears about as much as I enjoyed the Kings comeback series win in 2014. I hope this loss completely demoralizes those cowards.

It does not matter. Neither team can beat the Predators with this run and gun style. I hope so anyway. Oilers will have to fix their defense. One of Eberle or RNH will have to be traded for D or both, because McJesus and Draisaitl will get payed and no one will take pylon Milan with his fat contract. Oilers and Maple Leafs have a long way to go. They do not have enough skill and experience to play like Pittsburgh.

It took Pittsburgh years to acquire and develop enough skillful players to support Crosby and Malkin, especially on defense, witch fell apart after both cup runs.

This would be a sports horror story for the Ducks if they lose another game 7 at home.

I think it would also will have cheapened arguably the greatest comeback in NHL history if they don't even win that round.

I got the feeling it's going to be a blowout in favor of whoever scores first. It's a very young team playing a Game 7 on the road that's facing a team who's core has been historically awful in this situation. Tough to predict.

The Oilers just need to figure out a way to protect a lead going into the 3rd in game 7 and win the important draws. 2 of the 3 comeback goals came directly off badly lost draws.

Pardon my temporary cluelessness. Is this in reference to their 3 goals in 3 minutes?

The Kings tanked and got Doughty. Every bit the prodigy McDavid is, just a different position.

I think you aren't interpreting my comment regarding 1 in 1000 correctly. The Oilers were in the lottery. Getting the 1st overall pick in the McDavid draft had odds that were considerably higher, so it wasn't a MIRACLE.

I'm not saying the Kings will draft a player like McDavid anytime soon. What I am saying is management needs to recognize the futility of reloading a popgun against an organization that is building a howitzer. It's time to start building something better.

I hope you're joking. I really hope you're joking...

No, I'm not joking at all. Let me know how you think the Kings match up against the Oilers over the next five years or so.

I remember many said this about Crosby/Malkin, yet teams did. The Oilers still have a long way to go.

The Oilers have the foundation. Any pieces they are missing can be acquired with the expendable assets they already have on hand.

Pretty cool and a very classy move by Pierre-Édouard Bellemare.

I think Herby won poster of the year a few years back, but it should have gone to RP.

Herby took the watch and ran away with it. :naughty:

Why the hell would Lombardi take a massive downgrade?

After being fired by San Jose, Lombardi took a short term gig as a Western Conference scout for Philadelphia. It's not unusual to see a fired GM take a job as a scout/advisor while waiting for more vacancies. Keeps them involved in the game and probably helps them get a better gauge of players around the league since they aren't necessarily laser focused on their own club.
