Prime example of why the instigator penalty is stupid.

Big hit by an enforcer, other enforcer comes over and they both drop the gloves.

One team gets a power play in the playoffs over it.

Edit- And of course, they score off of it. Fantastic rule that just keeps on giving.

Agreed man, I've always thought it was a dumb rule.

It also wouldn't have happened if he had just skated away.

Amazed the likes of McLeod and Boll are playing this late in the playoffs.

Roenick is exactly right during the intermission.

0-0 tight checking game and you decide to do something incredibly stupid that may cost your team the game.

Also, even in the regular season they rarely ever give the other guy an extra two. I was shocked to see the Ducks got a pp after that.

The Kings have seemed to get shafted on instigators against and Fox will very much highlight that fact when it happens.

They do call it a lot as long as it is an enforcer doing the instigating. They like to give a roughing minor to non-enforcers so they don't sit for the extra 10 and don't accumulate instigators toward an auto suspension.

They love taking fighters off the ice so they will give it no problem to enforcers.

I'd just like to see that let go in the playoffs when it is two fighters and Boll was ready for him.

It was a clean hit though. Suck it up. It wasn't worth the fight.

Don't care. It's hockey.

Until it is completely legislated out of the game and the bleeding hearts get their NBA facsimile, that's just good hockey.

Now, if we want to talk about bad penalties, high sticking a guy away from the play in front of the other team's net with under five to go in a tie playoff game...now that is a hell of a penalty.

Players also know the instigator exists, so they might want to pick their spots better. That was a hockey hit, which didn't deserve a fight. It's hockey, guys are going to get hit.

And enforcers are going to respond to big hits that appear to injure a teammate.

Maybe we have all forgotten this after watching the Kings the past season.

Carlyle spending time complaining about shots totals.

been laughing about this for a solid 10 minutes

last game was the "hold my beer" competition for worst goaltending, now it's "hold my beer" for dumbest comments to the media

Ducks lose that means I'm having a good night. Preds-Senators Final would not surprise me one bit.

Gary Bettman may be asking his old buddy David Stern how he rigged the 2002 Western Finals and use it to screw over Ottawa.

Ottawa-Nashville would be a ratings disaster.

And they take the chance of getting the instigator. It's not a surprise. They know the rules, so you do what you do, and whatever happens happens. Might have cost them the game, might not have. You never know how things will shake out.

The Sens would set the league back 10 years with their boring 1-3-1 defensive system and try and win games 2-1. Game two was embarrassing to watch with all the talent on the ice, unable to show it because of the modified trap.

1) Chi/Bos
2) Chi/TB
3) Chi/Phi
4) LA/NYR
5) Pit/Det
6) Bos/Van
7) Det/Pit
8) Pit/SJ
9) LA/NJ
10) Car/Edm
11) Ana/Ott

Yeah, Nas/Ott would probably be down near the bottom. Any possible series this year might not be great. The best player in the league, in an eastern American city, hasn't even brought in the most eyeballs on average.
