Bond Villain Boucher is definitely pulling some strings behind the scenes. Sniper in the rafters, clone of Sullivan making fake game plans, KFC for the Penguins pre-game meal, etc. Something.

The trap disguised as 1-3-1 defensive scheme to foil his opposition.

So there's a thread on the main board asking who's the worst Cup winning team ever. I would have to say whomever wins the cup this year is hands down the winner of this question. Yes even the Pens.

Of all the dumbass posts I've read on this site, the worst Cup winner posts are the absolute leader.

You ever notice how the people posting in those threads are fans of teams that suck, like the Canadiens, Canucks, Sharks, Devils, Sabres, etc.

You can get two seats in the lower bowl for today's game for about $200 a ticket.

Nose bleed in between the bluelines are around $100 a ticket, and nosebleeds behind the nets are under $75.

Not bad prices for some pretty good hockey.

Best deal: Saw three in the Club Level, Section 133 for $155 a ticket.

It's tough to justify even the reasonable posts in there becasue they're still Cup winners. It takes a tremendous amount of talent as well as serendipity to make a run. I know the Canes always come up in there because of how they fell after and because they were short on superstar power, but like the 2012 Kings, it was a lot of guys playing on top of their game. Even with the best intentions, it still looks like a way to drag down a supreme accomplishment. I agree it's hard to understand how insulting it is if you haven't been there as a fan.

It's just a ranking. Humans love to rank things. Best or worst team to win the Cup. Best or worst to lose it. Hardest or easiest road to the Cup. Best player ever. Top 5. One of our favorites, best current defenseman. If Doughty was in a Senators jersey, and Karlsson in a Kings sweater, it would all be reversed. We can't help it, and the internet only fuels the subjective fire. Easy to find stats to support your argument one way or another.

What's more impressive, up 3-0 in all 4 series while starting on the road, or a 0-3 comeback with three Game 7 road wins in a single playoff tournament? What's more lucky, just 6 defensemen playing in all 20 games in 2012, or beating Anaheim with Jeff Schultz taking a somewhat regular shift in 2014?

Any good team could win the cup with good timing, getting lucky and hot at the same time, so it's so hard to quantify.

That 2012 team though, everything fell into place as good as I've seen in the last 20 years. That team could have beaten some of the stacked pre-cap cup winners the way they were playing. There's little that can be done against a team that is rollin' like that.

I don't disagree, and it makes for fun discussion; but more often than not, it's just bitter posts finding ways to discredit Cup winners rather than good discussion/analysis of the runs themselves.

Shrug, I posted in that thread but kept my comments about the Devils three Cup winners and which one was the weakest of the trio.

Shame the Kings didn't have anything short of Doughty to get a younger #1C. Gotta get those top 5 picks.

The Kings had an asset a couple of years ago that would have done the trick.

Not anymore.

I'm guessing Kopitar, and no he wouldn't have. In June of 2015, coming off a career worst season, already $3m more expensive, and needing a new deal soon? When there was no thought of Johansen being traded, coming off his own career high in points, let alone for a guy 5 years older? Columbus isn't doing that. They had a younger and cheaper #1C. Doughty or nothing.

This is so true. The reasons are always the same, hot goalie, puck luck, didn't have to play anyone, Bettman wants Hollywood to win....

A deal could have been done the following season when Johansen was traded.

Columbus was extremely unhappy with Johansen, and if you remember that's one of the players I said Dean should be looking at if Kopitar wouldn't sign a reasonable deal.

Rinne seems to struggle with shots to his stick side. Reaches across his body with his glove sometimes.
