I actually like the Bonino deal. I think he can find another gear and flourish behind RJ. I think he can hit 20/30-35 in an expanded role. There was a cap on his potential and role in Pittsburgh. I think he's really grown as a player these last few years. I also like that it's only 4 years.

Five years is too much for him, but okay.

Montreal now has 33% of their cap space tied up in Price, Weber and Alzner.

Washington has about $9M in cap space remaining and has only 8 forwards, 5 defensemen, and 1 goaltender under contract. Complete and total incompetence by Brian MacLellan.

Bonino got 4 years. Originally, I believe reports had suggested five.

That's better then. I had heard it was 5 years. Not bad for a guy who is 29 years of age.

I don't think the Kings would have paid that much.

Next big thing for Nashville now is to see if they can get Johansen on a reasonable deal. Wonder if they can get him on another bridge deal and have enough cap space left over to build a contender.

With the acquisition of Johansson, Devils fans seem to think Henrique will be moved for a mid-tier defenseman.

Henrique can score, plays both center and LW, is defensively apt, and kills penalties. He's 27 and signed for two more years at 4M.

Could be a good option for us to hold down the 3rd line center spot, or occasionally bump into the top 6 when need be.

Lombardi would've given him 7!

Yes, a move Blake should consider. Martinez + for Henrique?

Meanwhile Sakic is trying to get an arm and a leg for Duchene.

I wonder what this says about Duchene's value. Johansson and him are fairly comparable. Both 26. Both signed through this season and next.

More like an arm, leg, and part of the left foot.

Martinez is probably a lock for around 30 points and 20 minutes a night for the next 4 seasons. Henrique only has 2 season left on his deal. I'm not sure if we need to add much, or anything. Its a good framework though.

It's hard to gauge how Martinez is regarded around the league. It helps that he scored two massive playoffs goals while the entire hockey world was watching.

His 39 points last year was top 25 league wide among defesenmen. It's particularly impressive when you consider he did it on this low scoring Kings team. Only 4 players on NJ scored that many points last season. Amart logs 20+ minutes of ice time per game.

Considering he's locked up for 4 more seasons at a reasonable cap hit, we may be able to get Henrique and a pick for Amart. Hard to say.

Wow the prices paid this free agency is crazy. Way madder than last year. Brown's contract is starting to look reasonable, especially if he scores 15 goals and 30-40 points

I don't think he's going to be as good at 37 as he is now, esp in the today's NHL and even if he were , he's not worth 10.5, no goalie is. And it cripples the team.

It's not good for the NHL , and now has set the same ridiculous bar for goalies that Toewes set for centers.

And until his GM understands that overpaying for PRice (or any goalie) won't get you a Cup, he'll be an elite Reg season netminder, making a mint.

Price is worth every bit if not more than any skater out there.
